According to BBC data, 7.8 million people stayed up to watch the final of the Embassy Snooker World Championships whilst 6.8 million stayed up to watch the General Election result.

I asked because I managed to stay up until 1am or so on election night but then had to get some shut-eye before the next working day.

If the snooker was on a weekend night you can see why that may have helped it.

Obviously the fact that it's in Sheffield smiley - biggrin is also an important factorsmiley - winkeye

I watched both too, but I stayed up a lot later for the election. I ended up cheering very loudly at about 3:15am when the Lib Dem candidate I'd campaigned for potted the red and the blue. smiley - fullmoonsmiley - winkeyesmiley - bubbly

Yes, the election caused me to have a day off work, but it was worth it to see George Galloway win and the Tories take the Forest of Dean and Monmouth.
