Number Six's Word of the Week.

An occasional series, in which I will merely be posting words that make me smile. To start off with:
'Bonce'.
I thank you.

One of my favourites too - as in 'Oi bacon bonce, I can dig a bit of ras'
I already have an email address which is baconbonce at (my very own website I thang yow) zz9pluralzalpha dot net, but I haven't been able to plumb it into my email client yet (long story)
When I reinstall and change a few email addresses - too much spam in at least two of them - I'll fire it up
How does 'splendid' tickle your fancy?

What's a 'bit of ras'? I have to admit, you've lost me there - I like 'bacon bonce' though!
What does it for me is the old-fashioned slapstick violence indicated by bopping someone on the the bonce.
Although it's quite good when used in a footballing context, as in '...and Lee Hodges' cross-shot was heading towards the corner flag, but unexpectedly rebounded into the net off the bonce of a surprised Mickey Evans'.

I was hoping you wouldn't ask that question cos I'm not entirely sure what 'a bit of ras' is. It's just something we used to say at school

must admit i'm not familiar with bonce, I assume its a britishism.
As for sheer assonance and words that sound delightful as they trip off the tongue, I have always enjoyed the words kerfuffle and cumquat and especially Aristolelian...

Surely it was not unexpected. Triggers control of the ball with his "bonce" was majestic!

My favorite words to say come courtesy of Black Adder:
-'Wobble'
-'Bob'
-'Wolf'

This week's word, I think, is 'clobber'.
That's clobber as in stuff, equipment, gear, or clothing - not as in a sharp blow to the back of the head. Although come to think of it, it's quite good when used in that context as well...

Without question, word of the past couple of weeks has been 'quash', in the sense of 'to refute' - as in 'the Royal h2g2 Geographical Entry Society were quick to quash rumours that they were merely an ill-disguised mouthpiece for the quasi-political ramblings of Number Six...'

damn good word this week number 6!
Do you reckon we will get a result against Tranmere? Saw them on telly the other day and thought they looked quite good/

If we're as bad as we were against Wycombe last week, they'll stuff us - quite frankly, we were lucky to get nil. But I think we're due a good performance.
I'd like to see Buster Phillips back in the side - we desperately need some width.

The ting about buster is... well he doesn't like getting tackled. If he roasts his full back in the first 5 mins he is amazing for the whole game... but when he gets a rough tackle I rather feel he is scared of the ball for the rest of the game.
Plus he is a Grecian!

Well, following a totally unexpected 6-0 win at home to Tranmere Rovers, my word for next week is an old-fashioned exclamation of surprise:
'Crambo!'

I've been neglecting the words of late, haven't I.
To compensate, here are two beautifully juxtaposed:
'motley assortment'

Interestingly, you can win a pocket DAB radio if you tell Five Live what your favourite word is and why... so my latest in the much-neglected word of the week series is 'paraphernalia'.
