Hey.

It seems we've usually spoken to each other here in passing. Despite that, I hope your 'my life is over' thing is rhetorical. Like all harsh, blunt and generally wildly accurate curmudgeons, you would be terribly missed.

When I found myself in a similar situation of seeing a back a number of years ago, I was fortunate enough to find someone here to whom I was able to vent. I found such venting to be a useful adjunct to venting in person to friends and family. (perhaps there's someone in New Zealand on whom you could take out your frustrations)



I guess what I would be saying in a less manly context would be




That and:

Bachelor's Hall is always the best
If you're sick drunk or sober it's always a rest
No woman to scold you, no children to bawl
Always stay single, keep Bachelor's Hall.

You think everythings going fine only to find your life is built on sand. Been through the "relationship" ringer more times than I care to mention. Like you given up time, money, jobs, friends and even sport once (what was I thinking). The lesson Ive learned is that I dont learn my lesson. Like you I sort of knew what was happening on a few of those occasions when the thing I most wanted to do was kick myself for not getting shot of her early doors, but that's what happens when the big head rules the little head.

Is there any consolation well yes. You could be dead. No really. Instead of wasting emotional energy, career opportunities and cash with the ex-girl you caould have been dead from adrenaline sport you'd have filled your batchelor days with. Or kniffed on some pointless lads night out or had your wallet emptied by a real whore.

What you are now is slightly older and hopefully wiser for your experience and with more tricks under your belt. Remeber ex-girl contains most of the letters needed to right next-girl and she'll be the one or have nicer

chin up.

And the same mistakes ready to be made in the bag!!!

Sometimes I swear that relationships beyond friendship (no matter how intimate the friendship) just don't end up being worth the heartache at the end.

Well, as of this date it is still the case that my girlfriend fxxked someone else last Saturday night, enjoyed it and told me so. So no, actually, I'm not feeling any better.

Dear SoRB,

I am shocked and saddened at your situation. I know your loss and pain
are hard for you to bear. I have no great words of wisdom or insight that will magically
make it all go away. I can only say this.

I have been with my wife for over 21 yrs now. In the beginning the physical
exclusivity was of paramount importance. It was the trust on which the burgeoning relationship was built.
Now it is not. Now I'm not so sure that physical infidelity would matter that much to me. I would have to
know more about the situation. Why she did it? What were the circumstances? It would hurt, yes I would hate it, but it is not the only reason I love her and choose to remain in the relationship. Growing old together has taught me about being human and taught me about why I love.

These things are for you both to investigate, for you both to ponder. I do know that
true love, great love, is hard to come by. It is not easy to sustain, not easy to even recognise,
but well worth it for all the years of joy and sheer humanity it can give to you.

Tough times, tough choices, be true to your heart not your pride. See clearly your
love, rely on it. Best wishes for your choice and future.
