I almost forgot for a while, there. [ see F71594?thread=168008 ]
Not cos anything serious happened, but just cos life was getting me down. Little irritating things.
But no, it's true:
there will always be better, always be worse;
there will always be problems, not always be solutions;
there will always be things to miss, things to look forward to;
there will always be lucky breaks, and failed plans;
but life goes on,
whether we like it or not,
so why bother getting so upset about it?
I mean how pathetic, to get fed up over a pair of shoes!
I mean admittledly, they are shoes so worn down that the reason they let the water in is because there's a hole in the sole; and admittedly I do have to limp because the support structure is rubbing against my heel where the cloth's worn away.
And, yes, I'm not keen on shopping. Or good at it. Particularly clothes shopping: I just go into a clothes shop, and all I see is...well, clothes! And as for shoe shopping, I can't remember the last time I managed to actually buy a pair of shoes or trainers that actually fitted me properly.
And, just to make things worse, having had an old pair of trainers in my wardrobe for the last two terms, unused, I decided not to bother bringing them this term. So I will actually have to limp into town this afternoon if I'm to avoid tearing my feet to pieces. [Possibly a little exaggerated, but you get the idea: they hurt.]
And no, I still have no idea where I'm going to end up living next year.
And I've equally no idea when I'll next get a chance to see my beloved Lifson again (her being 110 miles away, and all).
But really, it's not that bad, is it? Everyone has challenges they have to face, problems they have to overcome, or cope with.
It can't really be *that* hard to find a pair of decent trainers that I can comfortably run around in. And after all, at least I can afford to buy them!
No, there really is no point getting wound up about it, and I thank myself and (tonsil revenge) [ U186749 ] for having journal entried that remind me that.
Life goes on,
and we might as well make the most of it:
if nothing else, we can smile.

Buy K-Swiss and never limp again.
My whole fambly is wearing them, with the exception of the dog.
I always forget something.
That's why I write on my hand.
I always lose something.
And when I lose something,
I really lose it.
Usually behind or underneath
something else that I've managed
to place prominently
so I won't forget where I put it.
Unfortunately, it also applies to people.
I often find it amazing to look at museum photos
and see what people use to use for footware.
The great athletes of the past
and the great explorers
and the kings and queens
and Gene Simmons....
Somewhere around here is an entry about making emergency shoes out of duct tape and plastic bags and cardboard...
Which reminds me of the last time I bought Converse Chuck Taylors...
made for someone smaller than me, I tell ya.
I like to have something between me and the ground and glorified mocassins don't cut it...

It's alright, I bought a new pair.
They're not perfect, but if I find some that are, I'll buy them as well
As for the rest of it... well, trust life to add an extra twist when you're least expecting it!
