Stupid Early-Year Senility...

In a display of forgetfullness that I think trumps anything I've ever done, I forgot to audition for the Jazz Band this year.
While the Jazz Band has never been a huge part of my career goals or my academic endeavors, this was still a pretty big thing for me. I mean, I really like Jazz, and I don't think I'll ever have another chance to join a Big Bag-style Jazz group again. Big Band just isn't popular enough for anyone to do it as a hobby, otherwise it becomes fiscally problematic.
To top it off, it may already be too late in the semester to sign up for saxophone lessons.
At least sax lessons I can pick up next semester.
I'll still practice the saxophone on my own, of course, but I don't have any way of really getting my hands on enough sheet music to keep practicing new things.

Tsk, tsk - being a hobby-musician myself, I'm afraid my response is 'how the could you forget?!
But then, I also know that there are times when your mind is being flooded with priorities and, somewhere along the way, you cathegorize a priority into the wrong folder, so to speak...

It's so frustrating when we forget things, Affy. It's a shame since you were looking forward to it. Maybe someone will drop out and they will reopen the auditions. Hey, it could happen.
Is there a way to download sheet music from the Internet?

Yes, as long as you're content only playing solo pieces, and only playing public domain stuff.
The thing is, I almost missed them last year as well. The audtions seem to be pushed slightly earlier every year, so it becomes progressively more difficult to make is a reasonable time to hold auditions.
