Schlock?

Hi Affy
You still working on the Schlock Mercenary article? If you are, but you don't have time, I'd like to help you get it done. I haven't written anything in a while, and this seems like a worthy project. Plus, with all the crap that's been going on in Wikipedia, I think this would be a good way to plug the Guide within the webcomics community.
Let me know what you think!

Hmm.
You know, that's an excellent idea. I have been a bit busy with school lately, so my guide-entries have suffered.
I should also write a Guide Entry for Evil, Inc. Help it get recognized and reinstated as "official."
How do I set things up for you to help write it? I've never done that.

Well, I know there's a way to credit people who have helped you research it. You should probably keep main authorship since you started the article, but I'd happily contribute some text. Send me an email at aum188 at psu dot edu, and we can go from there.

If this is still going on, I'd happily help with any webcomics related entries.

It hasn't really stopped, though the project does seem to have stalled a tad.
Also a webcomics addict, Irv?

Yes, sea got me into it, I think. It now takes me half and hour to an hour to get done reading my morning comics each day, with constant rechecks to see if Kurtz has gotten around to posting yet.

Ah, Kurtz. I read over thirty webcomics daily and *still* haven't gotten around to going through his archive.

Irving Washington Posted Aug 27, 2007
Everyone I have read who comments on or critiques webcomics pretty much agrees on two things about Kurtz: 1) He's a real jerk sometimes, and 2) He draws a consistently funny webcomic.
I do recommend the archives to you, because this many years on (I think he started about a decade ago?) some of the jokes have become either running gags based on your familiarity with the strip's history, or character based. The archives are fun, and often funny, but do take forever to read because -- while he sometimes updates late -- he almost always updates the strip daily.

*Sigh* Well, I suppose I can toss another webcomic onto my pile. I already follow along with Gabe, Tycho, and Kristopher Straub, so Kurtz seems like the logical progression.

Irving Washington Posted Aug 30, 2007
Yeah, if you're reading Straub, you should be reading Kurtz, if only because the two of them are... very very close.

Oh, I know.
Honestly, I almost started reading Kurtz when Straub decided to let Kurtz in on the whole Halfpixel venture. But then I stopped reading Halfpixel after the You.O stuff got going (I mean, the Time Friends Maker was great, but I missed Ichor Falls and Deep King.)

Yeah, Time Friends generally leaves me flat. And the Ichor Falls was definately great. I wonder if he just forgot about that stuff in the move?

I think he just wanted to focus largely on Starslip Crisis (which was a relief to me, as Starslip Crisis was starting to show signs of neglect.)
Time Friends, when it first started, made me laugh so long and hard. Countless, countless examples of bizarre dystopian futures, always punctuated with a NOOOOOO!!!!
But then came the Time Friends maker...

Yeah, and let's face it. Most people aren't as funny as they think they are.
Schlock?
Afgncaap5 Posted Sep 2, 2007
No, they aren't. If Straub makes a Time Friends, it's bound to be funny just because of the repetitious nature of it. His immitators weren't as good. And my biggest complaint is when using "NOOOO!" stopped being the norm (which is ironic, considering the fact that the only Time Friends I made didn't have a NOOOO in it.)

For the record: I'd originally intended to edit the "TIME!" to read "TOM!" to make it more in keeping with the joke. I forgot, though, and it was posted before I could correct it.
