Star Wars III question...

Oh, I meant to ask...

How d'you think Lucas is gonna get Anakin to know about Luke's birth while Obi-Wan legs it with Leia so he doesn't know??

Not having an innate rapport with the creative workings of George Lucas' mind (thank God) I would guess that Anakin will be able to figure out he has offspring on the way from the really gross way Padme starts swelling up.

But there's no reason to suppose he knows anything about how many or what sex, until twenty years later when this kid called Skywalker shows up in the company of Obi-Wan and makes a hell of a mess of his shiny new Death Star. (Yeah, I know Vader doesn't learn his name in the course of the movie but he knows it at the start of TESB.)

This of course only works they don't have sonograms in the Old Republic... and even then you'd've thought a Jedi Knight would've been able to do a quick sense-probe-thing on the bump. Good Lord, a plot-hole in the Star Wars movies. Will wonders never cease?

Maybe Annie doesn't feel the bump...

How do you know that Vader doesn't know who Luke is? He just doesn't have to recognise him... When is someone shouting 'It's your son!' down his ear? Could take him a while to realise...

What I'm getting at is the way Darth speaks with slight suprise in Return of the Jedi when he says "...sissster!"

How's Obi-Wan going to hide Leia from him...

Well, *we don't know* how much Vader knows about his kid(s) prior to the start of the classic trilogy. *We don't know* he even has any until the climax of TESB.

Plenty of room for manoeuvre there, even for Lucas...

Well Episode III is two years after Episode II...

Anakin has to turn, Dooku has to die, Obi-Wan has to fight, the jedi have to die, the emperor has to appear, the clone wars have to end, luke and leia need to be born...

Isn't the rest going to be novels/games/graphic novels??

Dooku dies in the first ten minutes, in a scene foreshadowing one from the classic trilogy.

A heavily made-up Chris Eccleston plays Tarkin (hmm, I think Jim Lynn already mentioned that over in the DW thread).

A character in *white* Vader armour supposedly appears.

Obi-Wan doesn't take Luke into hiding - Chewbacca does.

You missed out 'Yoda has to go into hiding.'

Just in case you hadn't heard any of those rumours... smiley - smiley

Why would Dooku die within the first ten minutes?

Oh yeah... All the colour has to be sapped from the galaxy aswell... but I supposed Palpa-- I mean the Emperor has 20 years to make the world look 30 years older!

Does Chewbacca HAVE to be in? I was sort of happy when he met his doom in Star Wars: Vector Prime... getting crushed under a moon...

Because someone sticks a lightsaber through him?

They've apparently gone to a lot of trouble recreating the beginnings of the classic trilogy boiler-plate aesthetic, which is well in place by the end of the movie (the last scene is apparently set on the bridge of a Star Destroyer).

Ask Lucas about the Chewbacca thing. Personally I think it's another continuity head**** waiting to happen, but he's in charge. I'd heard he'd died but as I don't read the books it didn't bother me either way.

So Episode III is what? 50 hours long?

I do know there's only one Tatooine scene filmed during Episode II so they wouldn't have to go back to that desert...

Can only presume it's Kenobi handing Luke over.

Oh how perfect III will be... Chewbacca, C3-PO and Jar Jar.... Whoopee.

We're going to get many different versions of THAT music aren't we? We'll presume Padme Skywalker kicks it giving birth? Would seem the right thing to send Anakin over the edge.

And 'Bacca dies when saving Anakin Solo... getting crushed under the moon of Sernpidal.

Well, it's not the scene you think it is, as neither McGregor nor a child were on the shot list, and Lucas has said it's Chewbacca who - I nearly said 'delivers the baby' - hands Luke over to the Lars.

Should be a busy couple of hours, but everyone likes the script, apparently - better than the first two (NTTNSM).

1 and 2 or 4 and 5??

Lars: 'Oh I greatly take this child who is no relation to me. I'm sure nothing will come of it.'

NTTNSM?

Star Wars III question...

Post 12

Awix

One and two, obviously...

Lars: 'What the hell are you saying? Stop growling, dammit!'

(He is kind of technically his nephew, or step-nephew...)

NTTNSM: not that that's necessarily saying much...

Star Wars III question...

Which Lars? His 'uncle' or the other guy who buys slaves for wives?

There's far too many continuity holes...

I take Lucas is only doing that because Kenobi had a chat with 'Bacca in the cantina?

Luckily Darth will never find Luke on his home planet with the only known family members...

And who sends Chewbacca to Tatooine??

Anakin: I feel... funny... quick... take the child to... to... tatooine--

James Earl Jones: Ooh! That hurt!

Hmmm... If Mr. Dooku dies at the beginning of Episode III, Mr. Lee will not be happy!

U207003 has a very interesting journal piece of Ep III rumours....

If it's anything like it's written in there, Episode III /should/ be the best of the six...

I skimmed over it. I don't want to know the plot. Why would I want to read a rather dry synopsis (no dissing astrotomato or whatever he's called, but all synopses like that are dry) which would spoil my enjoyment of a film which I'm trying not to get my hopes up about anyway, given what happened the last time?

It's more than just plot, anyway, it's execution.

And going back to Christopher Lee being unhappy, if Peter Jackson can get away with provoking such a famously dignified and tactful man to such an extraordinary public tantrum, I'm sure Lucas can manage it even more easily! smiley - smiley

I'll just presume that Mr. Lee filmed his bits during the Episode II making.

Attack of the Clones wasn't disappointing albeit a silly subtitle and vomit inducing love scenes!

Star Wars III question...

Post 19

Awix

Was for me and a lot of other people, but the world don't move to the beat of just one drum...

Nope, he filmed his bits recently along with the rest of Ep III. The only bit they filmed as part of the Ep II shoot was during the location work in Tunisia.

What might be right for you, may not be right for some...

Mm. Tatooine.

The biggest mystery is still to come... do we see Representative Binks die because of his blatant stupidity?
And how does C-3PO get his gold paint?

Prepare for the insurge of between III and IV books of course... namely all evil Vader moments.
