An interesting fact (spearcarrier)

Post 1

Doc

Spearcarrier in Greek is doryforos from dory (spear) and fero (to carry) which nowadays is translated to English as "satellite" (because of the characteristic of always being close to his master). The old meaning (the litteral, that is) has been lost (no spears being used lately, and no one needed to carry them arround).

Cool - you really do learn something new every day.
What to do with the rest of the day having learnt my new thing at this early stage is a tricky one though smiley - winkeye.

Red (and a bit grey) Dog

Hi, did you know that Al Gore's surname also has a spear connection ? Apart from the obvious bloody meanings gore can also mean "spear or javelin," from the Old English "gar," meaning "spear." smiley - silly

Two interesting Spear things in one week - will you have to lie down for a while ?

Woof-woof-woof

Redsmiley - dogfrom Australia
