Oh well, I guess you're right about the graffiti business.
I haven't posted to many threads lately: they have taken the server down at 11 pm London time the past two nights, which effectively gags the Yanks and Canadians.
Just thought I'd bookmark a new message thread -- hope DM float is getting to be how you like it.

I might take it about myself to graffiti people's homepages on my own accord
We discontinuing the other thead(s)?
I hate it when the servers go down for no apparent reason, but then, doesn't everybody?

Yeah, the other thread got long. H2G2 has taught us these Mad Hatter habits (Clean cups! Clean cups!) everytime the download time starts to drag, the way it did last night after the server came back up but was limping.
I'll remind you when Irv's birthday comes
Latest email, you didn't say whether the float is finished to your liking ;-( I need praise too. More chart details &c. in tonight's email.

Didn't I? I thought you said there was another one coming? I must have goofed-up somewhere along the line *^_^*
The thing with me is that I try to make my praise sound genuine, and not sound like butt-liking. I'd hate it to be misinterpreted that way
But you deserve much praise, indeed. I just can't do you justice
I'll give Irv a special birthday bash, yeah

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Apr 19, 2000
*blushes at absent-mindedness* I just sent it.
Praise should never be solicited, either -- I was just joking, because I didn't get your usual prompt response about the float. But you touch on a very true thing. A Japanese girl once complained to me about how poverty-stricken the English language is for expressing thanks or giving compliments. Some languages have dozens of gratitude words, while we only have two or three.
You and your personal honour

DM float rocks. I can sleep well tonight . Must remember to post it to Irv.
I got an article to update, plus two more to write. One's done up...hang on, I've just told you about this.
Well, the other is another jokey article. Something along the lines of "Gagging for a smacking".
The thing is with english, you can just make up words. Did this Japanese girl count "cheerzen" as a thank-you?
Slang does terrible things to a language

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Apr 19, 2000
I've noticed y'all using cheerzen but I thought it was a Janner word.
*runs away very fast*
Did you see the post on your subed list about articles full of lyrics?

Methinks "cheerzen" may be universal. I don't see why not. Here's me going around exporting it! LOL
Yeah, I saw the posr. A while back I got an article about a song, and about 60-70% of it was lyrics. I accepted it cos because it was informative and factual, and you needed the lyrics to understand what the article was going on about, if not for the sake of completeness.
Of course, this was a few weeks before we all got this email, so I didn't put any copyright or stuff like that in *^_^*
Anyway, the editor that got it may have included it.

Slang -- just saw a wonderful new slang word in one of your posts elsewhere: any idea where the word "munter" comes from? 8-D
Telegram
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Apr 20, 2000
Lord knows! I know what it means, a munter is an ugly woman/girl/y'know, but I don't know when or where people started saying it.
Something I've asked myself is: where have I picked up my words from? All my swear words and slang or stuff. Actually, I could have a pretty good stab as to where I picked up basic swear words, but I dunno when or why I started using them. I know 'wanker' came pretty late, and my first word was something like 'bugger', and sticking up two fingers was rude...
Takes me back a long time!

In a way, swear words are power words. You throw them at people and they leave dents!
btw, you can find more of my artworks at http://www.h2g2.com/A229943 at the book nook. I gave the images to Beeblefish and he put them up kind of any which way.

Is very Asteroid Lil!
I'm figuring out how you did the Irv pic. I had a few ideas, but I just forgot 'em all! Argh!
When'd this thing about Irv being blue come about then?

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Apr 21, 2000
Whew! I haven't been able to get on the internet for hours!! And then just before 3 the heavens smiled and I got a connection. If I don't seem to be responding in good time this weekend know that I am probably effing and blinding at my ISP for having more customers than infrastructure in this area. Anyhow, I just got latest installment of chart off to you and will write more tonight.
Take away my net and I FREAK!'
Irv actually started as a doodly with loaded palette knife and distorto impasto. I sketched the dace and lo! there he was. You can see the rapidity of the execution, and yet it all works somehow. So this is a galaxy-wide site. It simply turns out Irv is not a human, and neither is Bluebottle.
Man, hope I don't get thrown off while I'm posting. I probably won't get back on till midnight your time....
I'm really proud of the Indian statue of Rama by the way -- that was done freehand! I had a picture out of a book on oriental mythology and worked from that, but it wasn't a scan or clip art or anything.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Apr 21, 2000
doodle, not doodly.
dace, not face.
Calm down, Lil, you're on and all is well.
What's this bearded rainbow? Must go look.

I heard that Phil Collins had one of his albums end up not like he wanted, because he took -time- in doing it. Sometimes the best thing come out at the heat of the moment, before you have a chance to pause and reflect.
So, when'd you learn that Irv was blue? And Bluebottle, for that matter...
Must have missed the freehand statue *^_^*...so sorry.
My ISP has an annoying hobbit of not being able to load up my homepage, or a forum, for no apparent reason. And it disconnects me. It's not as frequent as it used to be, but it still bugs me.
Hey, u never heard SWLABR by Cream? Be thankful I didn't do NSU

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Apr 22, 2000
The Indian statue is in one of the booknook pictures, the one with the 3 ceiling spots.
Whew. Looks like everything is working properly again with my ISP. Your disconnections are probably on acoount of a grpahic going fritzy. That counter that leads your page has been down occasionally when I swing by -- nothing but the square with the red X in it.
You're right about taking too much time to do something, though. In art, you can "overwork" an oil or acrylic or watercolour painting by making too many changes and fixes, so that it becomes muddy.
Irv has put his window up.

The cartouche gave it away, you nutcase. It made me curious and I've been off and said hello to him, whover he is. I shall expect a full explanation.

Mike A (snowblind) Posted Apr 22, 2000
Well, if a total stranger claimed to have got your mail, wouldn't you get a bit suspicious?
Explanation has been given. Snowballs have been advertised
