44 today! Who'd have thought that I'd make it this far? I well remember one of my exes telling me that she didn't think I'd see 40. I was about 35 at the time, so that seemed a tad harsh, but considering my lifestyle at the time her pessimism was understandable. She would, I'm sure, be very surprised to see my current slimmed-down, sober self.
Life continues to bring new and interesting challenges. This week I acted in front of film cameras for the first time, helping a film student make a short film about adult literacy. It was a very interesting experience, although it confirmed what I've sometimes heard film stars say in interviews: film-making largely consists of waiting around and then doing the same thing over and over again. But I think I did a decent job. I'll be making my debut in musical theatre later this year: I've been cast as Filch the beggar in a Bradford University production of Brecht's 'Threepenny Opera', due on stage on June 8-10.
And tomorrow, thanks to an online dating service, I have a date with a very nice-sounding part-time teacher who has a sideline as an alternative therapist. As I move further into my fifth decade, the idea of dating someone who's good at massaging away aches and pains seems very attractive.

Thank you, broe, Candi and Menza!
And as for that date... wow, what a fit woman! She wore me out! We got going almost as soon as we met, and went on for well over an hour! I was breathless and exhausted, and still a bit stiff the next day. And all outdoors too! That brings the colour to your cheeks!
Yes, there's nothing like dating someone who likes going for long walks.

Hiya!
That sounds like a hot date! It went well then? Have you arranged to meet up again? Is she lovely? Gorgeous even? I hope so! Don't feel you have to divulge the details, I just hope you both had a lovely time.

Seriously: I had a good (and healthy) time, my companion was very nice, and we may meet again. But I'm not sure we actually have enough in common in terms of how we like to enjoy ourselves to make a viable couple.
Not to worry. Plenty more in the sea, etc.

oh phooie
i have seen those other three before but i can never remember all these new smilies and can never be bothered loading the full smiley index (so basically i only have my own laziness to blame)
does anyone know if the moratorium on new smilies is still in place?
