Just a quick word of thanks. I know I've said it elsewhere, but today's been the first time in ages I've really enjoyed writing something.

That is wonderful to hear, to be honest. How To Shell A Catch did the same for me.

That was a fun little entry to read actually. And you did yourself a disservice by not mentioning it in this weeks issue.

I thought it appropriate to join in whenever time allowed. And I think we're enough in the public eye already without drawing attention to our own substandard pieces, to be honest...

Is the word "substandard" a calculated bit of humility there Rich? Because I rather think that was a good little "comfort zone" entry.

Well he has't complained in the 9 months or so that this conversation's been going.

Well, I was very much in my comfort zone. How did I stretch myself? I interpreted the challenge quite nicely, I thought, but it's still a cricket piece, and I'm not averse to writing those. If it was a competition entry, I don't think I'd score it very highly.

Fair play to you then. I think some people could end up taking the competition aspect of this far too seriously though.

Possibly. It's the early stages, of course, but we haven't seen much evidence of that yet. There's been a lot of friendliness, banter and encouragement going on between you guys - it's been great to see.

Aye, but we've not had an elimination yet. There'll be backbiting and infighting before bedtime, mark my words!

Looks like my cozzying up worked. Best mark comes from the judge I've been hounding and buttering up!
