Hi Taff,
Thought I'd ask for your expertise here, because you were in NI...
I have to give a Belfast tour soon (including the murals) and I can't find a relatively neutral account of the Troubles anywhere. Do you know any books/websites that summarise them without leaning too far to either site?

A brief overview - http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/othelem/facets.htm#chap2
The CAIN site in general's a good resource http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/ , but as it's a collection of documents some are more partisan than others.
Sorry, I'll butt out - just trying to be helpful. Let me know if you want to borrow any books, either.

I'd unsubbed, but since neither of you seem to mind I'll stick around. I'm sure Taff could give an insight into certain things that I couldn't, and vice-versa.

Did it stink as bad when you were there? I'm sure it's got worse in recent years!
Sorry Mal, I'm sure that's not the kind of information you were looking for.

the biggest problem we had was, we were right under the flight path for belfast city airport now its george best i believe, and every 10 to 15 mins the telly would go all snowy as a plane(transit van with wings) went over, was enough to drive you to
loved sunday mornings, an ulster fry and a to get rid of the hangover in the seaside tavern (gone now, under the widend bypass)
and the winters, playing rugby for holywood, what a craic!!!

no aldergrove is belfast international
belfast city is right by the docks just down a bit from H&W and the big yellow cranes,
bit like london city airport in the docklands, short hop small planes, isle of man, cardiff that sort of thing

No, the smaller airport in the city, GT. I believe it's the only airport in the world with an enormous gas installation right at the end of the runway...
Mind you, it's right next to the shipyard that built the Titanic. Safety's not really our strong point here.
