Need your help, oh green-gingered guru.
I bought 2 clematises about 6 months ago, and pl;anted them in a zinc trough in my backyard. the are different varieties.
It seems that one is thiving mightily, climbing and spreading like a good 'un. I reckon the other one has died. (Probably of jealousy). Should I try to remove it? It's very entangled with the living one, as you can imagine.

Hmm, I wouldn't bother trying to lift it out - I'd just cut it off at the bottom and lift it away. The only thing is if it died because of a disease the other one might catch it from the roots being left in. I doubt that though, since the other one hasn't caught anything so far.
Oh yeah, Integrated flute bands... Sorry about that!

Hi there
KB asked me to pop over as you're having some problems with your clematis
It sounds like your clematis had a disease called 'clematis wilt' It kills the plant very quickly. I should say, it could affect the other plant aswell. No one knows why this happens or was causes it. One of the best ways to prevent it, is to plant the clematis 3 inches deeper than the pot that it came in.
Also clematis like to have their roots deep and shaded, warm roots = dead plant.
Long term, they don't do well in pots, they like lots of space for their roots and they require lots of food. Tomorite is one of the best foods you can give them, though only up to the point of budding, once they start to flower, stop feeding them.
I would do what KB says and just cut back the dead one where possible.
Hope this helps.

There you go then. I asked Venus for a second opinion, because in my experience clematiseseses usually look half-dead apart from when there are flowers on 'em!
Oh by the way, I never noticed that typo before. 'Green-gingered' - you takin' the piss missus?
