The Patron Saint Of...?
KB Started conversation Sep 5, 2015
I was thinking about the whole business of patron saints today. The patron saint of England, the patron saint of firefighters, the patron saint of writers, the patron saint of this, that, and the other. I have no great desire to be made a saint after I kick the bucket, but I just started thinking. If I had to be a patron saint, what would I pick?
After some time I decided I'd like to be a patron saint people are happy to see. A patron saint who would cheer people up a bit. Not a patron saint people only think of when their arse breaks out in boils, or the wheel falls off their bike. After some thought, I decided.
If I have to be a patron saint, I want to be...

I would love to be the Patron Saint of Feierabend. I've never been able to find a suitable English word that covers the German succinctly. It means the evening time when work is over and you can do what you like.
