Moral of the story.

The moral of the story is don't take your eye off the ball.

You miss one meeting in a year, unavoidably, through illness. And when you come back you discover you've been elected to Things in absentia. I'm reminded of Trotsky's remark - "since they sentenced me to death in absentia, they are welcome to carry out the sentence in absentia, too." smiley - laugh

I *had* intended to take a bit of a break, and let somebody else have a lash. I could still do that of course, but after a bit of reflection I don't think I really want to, anyway.

They *like* & *respect* you, and think you're responsible and good at things!

Either that, or they think you're a sucker.

I once had the *opposite* happen: I was running for a seat on the board of my tenants' association, but I was not able to be at the meeting where the ele4ction was held. I lost. People didn't connect my name with my face. smiley - sadface
