Sounds like fun, but I can't possibly drive fast enough to get back to work on Wibble 5-Dec, and you know how cranky bosses get. I suppose I could use the but I always end up on a different planet.

We may be near Hsu this weekend, but I don't know if I'll be able to do any research.

Probably wouldn't help much if I told you the party's on the 11th, not the 4th, huh? Just as well the first person I remembered to invite is the one I figured couldn't come (though I figured 'twouldn't hurt)--and so now I can calm down a bit, since it's 2 weeks from tomorrow, not 1...

No, not much. But at least you'll have a bit more time to prepare.

We swung by our dear old alma mater for a short bit yesterday. All the good stuff about Jefferson State was inaccessible to me, because the indexes to the micro-cards are all locked in a room. And the rest of the stuff is locked in another room.
But at least I know where everything is now. I might not be able to get to it on this trip, but it looks like I will be making regular trips up here for the foreseeable future. Perhaps we can coordinate a micro-meet.

That'd be
This time of year, weekends are rather busy (especially for Tom--after all, I'm not ringing a bell in front of Walmart or a grocery store...) but maybe after the first of the year. I suppose technically I don't have to wait for a day Tom's free--I *did* get my license last April, after all... I just haven't driven anywhere other than Crescent City yet, except once up in Brookings, and we had to switch places because I didn't notice it was a regular green and *not* a green left arrow, so didn't yield Brakes work well. Nearest big parking lot on the left was found. Bit of wear and tear on the nerves, but nothing touched anything else, and horns didn't even honk.
Looks like we'll be heading up Medford-way for my birthday. I'll be searching this week and making reservations. Should be faster this time than it was for this summer's trip--we're getting broadband on Thing!

Glad your driving adventure turned out alright.
We've had a recent death in the family, that's why we're up here. Not all fun, games, and h2g2 research this trip. Mostly making arrangements, sorting, cleaning, listening. Or maybe it is research for an entry, and I just haven't figured out what the entry might be.

Hi Amy,
This coming weekend, the weather is supposed to be clear, so we plan to head to HumCo to help with the sorting, sifting, and hauling. I had hoped to sneak away for a bit to visit the library, but it appears to be closed on weekends during the winter break.
Happy

Tom's schedule is getting all changed around right now, so I've no idea when Doobrys (Doobries? That doesn't look right either, although it's *technically* correct...) will be free, though it should be soon. On the ohter hand, the new VeggieTales movie comes out this weekend, and if it doesn't come to our theater, we may go out of town. Though Brookings and Gold Beach are closer, and have cheap(er) gas as well. Heesh, never thought I'd think of $3.11/gallon being cheap...
*note to any lurkers--yes, I'm aware that petrol runs about that much per liter, but I'm gonna whine anyway*

My car loves this expensive gasoline, it makes her think she's drinking champagne.

Makes me wish I'd actually gone to a game while I was there!
But I suppose it'd be more useful if I told you that I think it's well written and very interesting
Any way you could find a link to the actual National Geographic photo, or does National Geographic not have online photo archives?
And, while I don't know the difference in our ages, and therefore may end up having some shoeleather as a late snack... Did you know/were (in the maiden-name-sense) you Miss Johnston?

Thank you.
My condolences if you knew the late Maria Johnston, and I'm sorry you have to learn this way, but she passed away a couple of years ago. I did meet her though, she came to one of our reunions, the last one I think. And yes, she played her flute in the half-time show.
As a clue to my age, my first gig was with the band was the very first Martin Luther King Jr Day. The town had absolutely nothing planned, and because it was a day off, the Arcata plaza was deserted. We showed up in full uniform to have our own parade, played tunes while marching around the plaza, then marched off to the surrounding bars to play for beers. I've gone on to become a fairly active band alumna, extremely active when I returned to HSU in 1998-2000 for my Master's.
I'm trying to negotiate with the current band Public Relations officer for a nice, clear photo that fits h2g2's photo policies - no faces, no corporate logos, all rights, no strings, etc.

No, I didn't know her. My condolences to those who did.
A photo on the entry itself would be Maybe a shot from the back--guaranteed to be no faces then

Funny, that's very similar to the photo request I emailed to the band's PR. I figured a nice shot from behind as the band is stepping off, doing a rear-back (right leg in the air as band members leans backward as far as possible, a hand to the hard hat to keep it from falling on the ground.

We got our promised nice weather today--just in time for me to be in the midst of a nasty cold Tom and Faith went to the park, though

We had a dusting yesterday morning. Of course, there were puddles everywhere, so nothing stuck...
Don't know if we'll be headed down that way or not, but I'll let you know either way If the computer cooperates with me, that is--sort of fluke that I'm on today. Normally I have to hold the power cord (and my face) in just the right way for there to be a power connection on this laptop lately, and Tom uses his at work during the week. I had to look something up, so I put up with it today, and then decided to see if weighting the plug down would work like it used to...
If you want my phone number so we can coordinate a meet one of these days, my email's on my space
