News Corp. may be embroiled in a phone hacking scandal, but that hasn't hurt media baron Rupert Murdoch in the wallet. According to News Corp.'s annual proxy filed Friday, Rupert Murdoch's 2011 compensation package is valued at $29.4 million.

In other news, a 24-year-old Cincinnati father died from a tooth infection because he hadn't the money to purchase antibiotics or dental care.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Sep 3, 2011
I remember watching a documentary called 'Don't get Sick in America'.
It was broadcast 40 years ago.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Sep 4, 2011
There was, on BBC radio Four a few months err, or possibly a lot longer, ago, I forget... A show, about health care, medical treatment, including dental treatment...
I thought it was about some third world country, the kinds of places always popping up in the news with some new famine, war or evil dictator in far-flung hot places... It wasn't until the end or near the end of the program that I realised it was in the USA... I kinda vaguely knew about medicare and the US health system, but, no, I was just really shocked by it...

One time I laid my leg open on a weekend, and really needed stitches. But it was the weekend, and there was no way I would be seen in the only remaining, incredibly over-crowded emergency room in that area (I've moved since). So ...
(The squeamish are advised to avert their eyes.)
... I took care of it myself.
Yeah.

This post got me shaking my head:
"Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally."

Oh, yeah. When Republicans depend on the hispanic vote, that position is sure to win. Way to go, Cain.

He'd be right unhappy of any of our folks suggested electrifying the southern edges of our border, huh?

This is your chance for fame, Nick. Start a petition, go on a speaking tour. Campaign to electrify the Canadian-US border to keep us out.
Really, please do. It would be too funny.

Ya know, politics and weirdiness being what it is these days, ... I might actually gain a measure* of support. Now how sad would that be?
*meausure being all the workless folks presently occupying parks and places in protest of what-ever this weeks protests are in protesticleness of.
