8:00 = 8:00 a.m.
12:00 = noon

14:00 = 2 p.m.
18:00 = 6 p.m.
23:59 = 11:59 p.m.

a.m. stands for ante meridiem; p.m. stands for post meridiem
==> sometimes with(out) dots, depends upon ...? i.e., am, AM, pm, etc.
