I am not a number... I am a free Bald Bloke!!!
I have now officially retired from my job much was had.
Now I've just got a few minor things to sort out, like acquiring a car, sorting the flat out, doing the garden........
Blimey I'm going to be busier than when I was at work.

Congrats, BB!
Lil: The ears have a sort of set of standard movements, roughly corresponding to "standard cat ear positions"; they're also rather noisy, presumably so that the wearer can tell they're doing. I can't really see what they're doing directly, of course, but I do know that every now and then, they do a little "wigglewiggle" movement and go still for a moment.

Now THAT would be worth finding out how to interpret!
Bald Bloke, congratulations on your retirement! Yes, you will be busier.

Morning all, NaNoWriMo's going smoothly so far, over 10k words and barely getting going.
The prologue, I have to admit, was inspired. One thing I always find jarring in books in a series in the introduction or prologue, sometimes even the first chapter. The problem is, if you've not read the first book you can easily end up with no idea what's going on. Or if you have read the first book, you have to either wade through several pages of what to you is repetition that describes and introduces the characters and the world, just in case you miss something.
I think I've managed to crack it though, the second chapter of the first book started off with a zoo team meeting, which introduced the main characters and gave more of a view into what was going on. So I've used that same trick to do the prologue, it introduces the characters and what they're actually doing, the world that is the real one, etc. Just over four thousand words of witty introduction that is also completely new material so you can get into this book without having to have read the first, but if you have it won't be a chore to read through.
I hope.

It would be nice if you gave us a link to your book writing effort.
I have come down with cellulitis. Dammit. And when somebody changed the time on my room clock, they hung it back up crooked.

Well done on your retirement, Bald Bloke!
Oh dear, Lil. What now?
In other news, I've been cat sitting for my sister's 2 kittens for the last week while she is on a business trip on the other side of the continent. I had to have the younger one euthanized last night due to previously undiagnosed feline infectious peritonitis that flared up suddenly yesterday morning. We need an smiley.

If I remember rightly, Thomas Kinkade has previously divided opinion in the Salon. But I think people will like these versions:

Aren't those wonderful? And I'm not sure opinion was divided. I remember giving Hati the works of Thomas Kinkade that day when she was freezing and had nothing to burn in her fireplace. And other salonistas chipped in with highly unwantable stuff to burn.

That bored site certainly has a lot of interesting things - I'd love one of these, but it seems that, so far, it's 'only' a 'concept model'

That is really cool! If I were at home, I would strongly covet one of those.

It doesn't look like it would be that hard to make one of those actually. Someone's already done the hard work thinking of the concept
