Don't Y'all Have Air Conditioners? We do you can't live without them here. Well you can but I would'nt recomend it. Heck I have an upstairs apartment and it get hot with the A/C on. Are y'all stil having drought conditions Man. This Summere we had more rain there we ever had in the summer in recent memory that is. Like I said Memphis weather is different from year to year. One Summer Drought the next summer rain. I've given up on wondering which it will be.smiley - smiley

Yeah, the drought's still on although we are getting more rain. But, as my father (a farmer, who would probably know a lot about the drought considering it affects what he works with) would say, the drought's not over until "the fat lady can have her cake and eat it too".smiley - smiley
And yeah, we do have air conditioners, but you can't take them outside or down the river where you go camping with no electricity. And the flies! They seem to spring from nowhere.

Ok I like that til the fat can have her cake and eat it too. That was cute. smiley - biggrin As far as I'm concerned I don't have a A/C in my van. Man it can be a tad like driving a clothes dryer.smiley - smiley

Sorry I didn't post there for a while - I'm fine.
I was staying at my friends' house last night, so I didn't get a chance to post here. I'm going home tonight too, so I might not be able to post until Wednesday of next week. I'll see how I go smiley - biggrin
Anyway, how's everything going? The weather's warming up here againg, but maybe we should move the topic off weather. It can be boring at the best of times smiley - tongueout

Okay - what about Hallowe'en? We don't do it here in Aus but I heard it's really big in the US?

yeah I like Halloween. when I was a kid we use to do some really well silly stuff on halloween. As a teen we threw eggs at cars took toilet paper and threw it up in peoples trees and in their yards. Take a paper bag and put some dog poo in it put it at someones door step set it on fire and ring the doorbell and watch as they stomped the fire out.smiley - laugh We were mean kinda. We pulled all kind of stunts like that. On one halloween a friend of mine and I ste the street on fire. we had the trafic stopped for a while. don't try these stunts unless you want to. As an adult I should'nt encouraghe you, but that's where we got most of our ideas from a older guy in our niebourhood.smiley - biggrin You be good and if you do any of thsese don't get caught.,biggrin>

There's a problem with that - we don't actually have Hallowe'en over here, so nobody does anything. If we were to set stuff on fire, we'd probably be hauled in by the police for an unwarranted attack or something...smiley - sadface

It would really be best not to try any of that stuff. I was a kid and we were just doing what all boys do at halloween. I mean you don't go trick or treating after turning 10 or 11 years old. Unless you want to look weird or something. Sorry bout bugging you on the do well at school thing. I won't say it again. Ok Just have fun ok. Later.

It's okay, Kid - you weren't bugging me and you can keep going on if with it if you like - I just found it strange that you were so concerned. It's not annoying me at all (in fact, I'm touched that a complete stranger is concerned for my welfaresmiley - biggrin)
There's not much chance of me trying any of that Hallowe'en stuff either. We don't celebrate it here in Australia so I've never experienced it before. You don't have to worry smiley - biggrin
Sorry about not posting for a few days, but I went home for the long weekend and the Internet connection there is unreliable at the best of times, so there wasn't much chance of me putting much here. But I'm back now.

Cool Did you get a chance to check out Michelle Branch? Probably not given that your Internet connection was not good. Look you don't need an Instant Messenger to watch or listen to Launch. If you Goolge Launch and get to the site you can watch videos and get your own radio stattion to listen to.

As far as being concern about your welfare. I've met people on h2g2 who are concerned for mine. As a child people normally showed concern for my welfare. I think the world has gotten a little colder nowadays. I'm determinded not to follow that trend. I hope you don't mind I feel as though your like a niece of mine. So I act as though you are. Kids in the US are much more unfriendly than you. I like that you are youthful and like the things of a teenager. And hope you continue to get your education and make your Parents proud. Thank you for letting me show concern for your well being. Be good and I'll E'ya next time.

I agree that people today can be very cold towards one another, especially those in cities. From my experience, small country towns are much more friendlier because the atmosphere is generally more relaxed and people who live there have often lived there and known each other for generations. However, in the city, everybody is busy, busy, busy, coming and going, and nobody has time for anyone else. Although this isn't true for my school, I guess, because we're all good friends here, which is more than you can say for most schools.
I don't mind you looking out for me, it's completely fine. smiley - smiley
I haven't yet had a chance to check out Michelle Branch, although I did try. Our Internet at home dropped out about three times while I was trying (it's dial-up, not broadband), so in the end I gave up and decided to try when I'm within reach of a reliable computer with no annoying school-internet blocks. I'm thankful that they don't block h2g2 though.

Same here Lass. I wound'nt have gotten to met you. I think you'er nice. The young ones in the State don't have that in common with you. They think if you are old your against them. I did'nt think like that as a kid I tried to learn from older people. I worked as a shoeshine boy at the age of 13. I use to listen to the older Guys they made sence.

I think it's a stupid approach to be against someone just because of their age. It doesn't matter how old a person is - they can still be really nice. And they also generally have wisdom (some don't, but you get strangers in every lot).
Good advice doesn't always have to come from someone older than you, though. It can come from anyone, and if it's well-intentioned, it's generally worth following (unless your intentions are somewhat different to those of the advice-giver).
I didn't have a job when I was 13 (I think it's illegal now to have a job if you're under fourteen nine months - at least, it is in Australia). But I'm fifteen now, and I do have a job (in fact, I'm working today). It's an easy one, really, but it's teaching me something about the workforce and what it's like, which'll be great when I'm older because I'll have had the experience. All students in Year 10 in Australia have to complete a week of work experience at an establishment of their choice - I'm going to see about doing mine with the police, because crime and mystery is always something that's interested me. I know real life isn't bound to be like that all the time, but at least it'll give me a taste of what it's really like.

Man thise site is being twichy today. So you think you might like a career in law enforsement. That's cool. I myself have had good and bad relationships with the police in my past. I would guess it depended on the individual who was the cop at the time. Some of them are really good people whilst others are using their positions to boost their ego. I have a big problem with them types. Regardless of their field. I always wanted to be a jet pilot, but life go in the way. I guess everything works out for Gods purpose I suppose. I think it's great that you'er interested in solving crimes and such. I say go for it Lass.

Yeah, I'll see how I go. I'm interested in the crime side and also the psychologial side - figuring out why people commit crimes and stuff. As I'm only fifteen and lived in pretty much isolated circumstances so far, my experience with the cops is somewhat limitedsmiley - tongueout. I think the closest I've ever been to a cop in the course of duty was when one of my sisters dialled 000 (the Aussie equivalent of your 911) just to see what would happen, and then she hung up. The cops came round to our place (no mean feat, considering we live about half an hour away from the nearest town) to check out what had happened, and afterwards my sisters and I got in trouble because none of us would admit we had dialled 000. I don't think anyone's come forward still, but I swear to you that it wasn't me. Really.smiley - smiley

smiley - laughlol So you guys do a little tom foolery as well.smiley - smiley They take that kinda thing seriously up here as well. From what I can tell it's not like Law an Order the TV show here if they say your Guilty your Guilty no one works overtime to find out any different. They say innosent until proven guilty. Maybe if you have money and high powered friends, if you are a working stiff your guilty until they prove you guilty. That's something that has to be changed to the way it's suppose to be. I just try to stay out of the laws way and hope they don't bother me. So how hot is it down there?

Right now in Melbourne it's raining and freezing even though its' the end of spring and summer starts in about three weeks. But that's Melbourne for you - the weather here is always unpredicatble and different from the rest of the country. In other places it's really hot and anywhere from 20 to 35 degrees Celcius (I think that's about 85 to 95 degrees in Fahrenheit, but don't quote me).
So yeah, pretty hot. How's America? Freezing your butts off?smiley - tongueout
