Hullo, mate
i'm dead tired of "hi, i'm a newbie" messages, so i'm sure that you'll be smart enough to surmise the obvious.
always been a fan of douglas adams but found H2G2 after his unfortunate demise. i sure hope he's hanging about with jim henson, one of my other all-time favorite people. i'm a hopeless child of 47, got my degree in film and communications back when wheels were square and have many different interests. besides mr. adams, i'm quite fond of p.g. wodehouse, the series of rumpole of the bailey books, have recently gone bonkers over jasper fforde & just ordered some of the robert rankin novels which amazon recommends to lovers of all of the above. i also quite like jumpa lahiri and phil pullman's books and am totally addicted to New Science magazine. oh-i'm inordinately fond of shiny things. doesn't matter what they are. i just like 'em.
fun things to do include make beaded jewelry, weave baskets every year from those damned vines that keep trying to choke the trees and which drive me to curse most foully & get out my pruning shears right around the start of spring, make 3D collages using stuff i find outside and junk i've saved for way too long and desperately want to get rid of, paint the occasional watercolor, etc.
i am a redhead with absolutely no celtic blood that i can prove, married to a large, hairy redhead who has lots of it somewhere (celtic blood, not hair)and can prove it(although he CAN prove that he is both large and hairy, come to that). he says my ancestors in the ancient russian steppes must have come across some horny vikings at some point, which is where all redheads are supposed to have originated. this could prove quite embarrassing to my forbears, as they were supposed to all have been jewish in the ukraine for as far back as we know. someone back there seems to have some explaining to do. even more suspicious, my maiden name was carroll and when we periodically received adverts in the mail for irish heraldic symbols, (my people were still in russia at the times they say we were struggling in the irish potato famine)we thought it was very funny & laughed hysterically. hmmm. something's wrong somewhere.
anyway, it would be a pleasure to converse with humans who are funny, well-read and have interesting viewpoints to share about, well, life, the universe, and everything, not necessarily in that order. i currently reside in a major metropolitan area of the northeastern atlantic states in the U.S. with my husband.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
