Fly Fishing by J.R. Hartley
(OK. Three volumes so far: A Game of Thrones; A Clash of Kings; A Storm of Swords
Set in a time of Civil War between a once untied kingdom. The mad king Aerys was deposed twenty years ago and his children are exiled abroad and are on the run but have a destiny with Dragons. Following the assassination of the current King Robert a huge Civil War ensues but while they are distracted with this, ancient forces of cold and evil are stirring in the walled off far north.
Brilliant stuff, currently my fave fantasy series as The Wheel of Time is begining to get tedious.)

Farmer Giles of Ham - J.R.R. Tolkein
Is George R.R. the one that did the World War series - with Aliens attacking Earth during WWII? No That's not the one!
What I'm trying to find out is the one that seemed to be based on World War I but with Dragons and other bits and bobs - I think it was by Raymond E. Feist!
