WAAF's daughter
My name is Christine. I was brought up on my mothers stories of her time in the WAAF during the war. The result was that I tried to join the airforce. Unfortunately I have a bad history of asthma and I was turned down!
However it does not stop me from being really interested in Mum's stories and I remember my parents joking on about 'you tell me about your war and I'll tell you about my war'.
Given that Dad has an easy time in South Africa and Mum ended up in the South East of England you can guess who had the hardest war.
Still Mum lives with me and is still reasonably active, dad died in 1974 totally unexpectedly. This year St. Valentines Day would have been their 60th Wedding Anniversary - but that was not to be.
