PS I'm not laughing - there are lots of things I've never done - like gone out of GB!

PPS just put on 1937 Covent Garden recording of Turandot with Eva Turner - my favourite. I must've told you about it? It was sitting next to me so I couldn't resist. Put something about it on a R3 thread t'other day and got a reply from someone who used to know her at college when she was a teacher.

I have use of a mobile if I want to but it's 2nd hand and although I've been shown how to use it I v rarely have. I ought to carry it with me at all times in case the car breaks down etc but haven't got used to it yet. Perhaps if I bought my own I'd have more enthusiasm. After all, I didn't want to know anything about the internet 2 yrs ago!

Re Dame Eva - I've a feeling my dad has a story or two about her - I'll ask him next time we're on the phone. Wish I could remember all his stories - I really should get him reminiscing with a tape recorder running. Shame I never did that with my (pianist) grandma telling her stories. At least I filmed her playing. And some of her playing has been put onto a CD so if I'm shown how to I could send some tracks to friends but I haven't tried yet.

OK, maybe I'll pluck up the courage one day! The kids tried to show me a year ago so I've forgotten what to do. Oooh the phone's right here, plugged into this computer - they must have been taking photos on it. You can take great pix up cats' nostrils! I'll see if I can locate one or two to send you! Texting is fiddly isn't it although I have slender dainty elegant fingers (!) even I found it awkward.
Better go,
Goodnight,
Jane

It's such a cruel opera...poor Liu. Never seen it staged and I can't say it's one of my favourites. Tosca and Boheme are my top Puccinis. (My dad's Boheme recording of course!) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000004191/103-1841271-6753469?v=glance&n=5174
(DW) You'll know about this if you've read all my messages to HtoHe on h2g2! Oh maybe you like Tippett? http://www.hmrecords.co.uk/catalogue/A003000000015cjz/page1.php
See paragraph 3/4 way down beg. Even the smaller roles....
Enough of that - but I'm a very proud daughter!

I agree La B is much better than Turandot, but I do like my Dame Eva CD. In questa reggia was supposed to have ruined Callas's voice I seem to remember reading. It's certainly very taxing but Dame Eva soars above it.

Evening MJ
Nice day today, bit breezy but sun came out and it got quite warm. Had to leave before the end of the game to get back here, have something to eat (doing so now in front of PC!) and get out again fairly soon for "cards"!
Thought of something else to try in the script earlier whilst at the match - mend the link to h2g2 in my discussions (more wasted time ahead!)
From what you say about problems with the script you're having, it sounds as tho ff is not recognizing events - an event is something like clicking on a link or hovering over it (ie putting the cursor on top of it). Try on my concert web site to see if menus pop up ok when you hover over green buttons on left - these use onMouseOver (squeak! - keep that "Furry+Purry = Pussycat" away from me). More later.

Hi Andy
You're not allowed to think about MB scripts when you're watching cricket you know!
Lovely and sunny here still - just staggered in from shopping - how do I always manage to fill a trolley when I only went out for bread and tomatoes?
Good luck with the bridge - I presume you resist your evil grin when you're playing or it would be a dead giveaway!

All popped up except for Artrix and History - perhaps they don't have menus? Hmmm... better check to see if you've added your forthcoming programmes for next season.
Somewhere I've read that the link from our Discussions and h2g2 had been deliberately broken which they might have had the decency to tell me when I complained!
Good luck with that!
this is meant to be a 4 leaved clover but it could pass for a lucky cabbage.
I give up - wot's ff??? Something function? flippin' frustrating?

Bridge awful, my mind just wasn't on it at all this evening. I gave up bothering about halfway throught the evening - shalln't be rushing to the web site to look for the results.
How are you feeling anyway? hope you're improved.
I won't be thinking about the scripts tonight that's for sure.

no they don't
> Hmmm... better check to see if you've added your forthcoming programmes for next season<<
don't bother checking, I haven't done it of course!!!
I complained about link as well and got no reply
ff = Firefox, sorry I assume everyone knows these abbreviations - computer people speak in abbreviations - but it can be flipping' frustrating as well.

MabelJane Posted Jun 1, 2006
Tut tut no you haven't! Just think how many people may have visited your website looking for next season's concerts...are you feeling suitably guilty now?
Did you see my WAFFLE message re Forbidden picture again? Where do you find these? What was it? Did you see the one I posted a link for? The Baileys is numbing brain and fingers so I may retire early tonight. Kids have only just gone up to after a great day out at the Blue Planet Aquarium with dad - they loved the puffer fish:

Enjoyed Beethoven's Waldstein sonata on R3 this evening - I always think of Achilles whenever I hear any of B's sonatas as he's deeply in love with them all and got me interested in listening to them. These MBs are certainly an education in all sorts of areas. I used to spend a lot more time on the old WOM board than I do now and my head used to reel with all the interesting grammatical stuff and linguistic origins I was trying to absorb! I'd post a 3 line question and get a 33 or even 333 line reply from some posters!
Had to intervene outside as Zoe and Katie were playing with something with a loud squeak. Managed to catch them both and now they're bored indoors so there's loud and fierce-sounding playfight going on behind me. Fur is flying. I THINK it's a friendly fight... but it looks and sounds quite aggressive.
This is turning into a blog...which reminds me of a frog and the bad news: 8 out of the 10 tadpoles have died - we don't know why. And another small fish died the other day too as well as one of the large ones... we're not doing very well with the aquatic life here.
MJ
