mmmmmmmmmmmmmm yum yum
I've seen the sketch several times probably but I'd completely forgotten the "Olsen's Standard Book of British Birds" bit - took me completely by surprise.

You might be interested in this picture which Ch. took of me this afternoon - I think it just about sums me up. See what you think.

Just had a look - no of candles correct as well - not 0.7
You must be pleased about your TA, you were very down the other week with the bad news about her. Are you feeling more cheerful now?
Heard on the radio as I was coming back from Ch.'s about Ligeti dying - although I don't know a vast amount of his music, his piano etudes are amazing and I've been lucky to be able to programme some of them when Rolf Hind played for us. I'm sure you won't like them but I might send you one anyway just to see what you think. The first one, called Desordre, is one of the best - the bar lines for each hand get more and more out of sync and the middle section I find just impossible to follow from the score - I've tried many times and I just can't do it. I heard Joanna MacGregor play it once and she really struggled, I thought. Autumn in Warsaw and L'Escalier du Diable are also wonderful. He said that as a very mediocre pianist he just loved writing pieces that he would find impossible to play (a man after my own heart).
Still I bet you haven't even tried the Feldman yet .

I've also posted the photo on the waffle and got 2 appreciative comments - or have you already seen that?!

I included the Ligeti in my top 4 pieces written in my lifetime - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio3/F2620064?thread=2114332&skip=76&show=1 a sort of DID I suppose. You might have heard me mention some of the other pieces!! How seriously are you sticking to the DID idea? ie does it have to be 8 pieces that you would genuinely want if you were marooned or can it be 8 favourite pieces? NB I wouldn't take the Bible or Shakespeare (except possibly Hamlet)

I wondered if you were a Ligeti fan when I heard the news on R3 earlier.
I was going to email you and other friends sbout my TA news but found myself mentioning it here first. Tears of relief. But she's still v ill of course.
DID's not at all serious! You should take the Bible and Shakespeare anyway - the paper might be useful! I think I can guess the book you'd choose...

You obviously know me better than I do myself - perhaps that isn't surprising. My favourite book is Mr Worry - poor little chap.

You're not the only one!!
I even have a Mr Worry badge.

For years I had a large Mr Sneeze on my clarinet case. Atleast no-one else ever picked it up by mistake! The Mr Men have their uses...have to admit we still have the whole series here!

I've also a Mr Noisy transfer stuck on the door of my wardrobe.

(PS might look out my Mr Worry book but not sure I can face the anxiety generated by reading about his stressful life)

How about the Timbuctoo lot? - I think St. or Ch. still have some of my books about Sniff or Oink.
Mind you I eventually began to have my doubts about labelling someone according to a single personality trait. Surely Mr Worry must've had days when he was Mr Happy - otherwise how could he tolerate his existence?

And I do find those Little Misses rather irritating...
I can't believe we're having this conversation! My tour de force was reading Mr Chatterbox's words at breakneck speed to my class - gosh that takes me back, it was in my first year or two of teaching 20 years ago!
Must go - not ready for work tomorrow....

You haven't told me anything about what you've done prior to this school year - another time perhaps?
Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

I've tended to spell nosy as nosey but I don't think he has an e does he? Rosy, cosy, dozy,
Night night and thanks for your Birthday threads - I'd had some lovely messages.

Excellent response!!!Apologies for correcting you...
Google hits:
nosey: 1,770,000
nosy: 2,480,000
I do prefer the look of nosey - probably Roger Hargreave's doing! He once sent one of my Welsh cousins a hand-drawn Mr Men card.
MJ ooops I can smell burning...

nosy wins by a short nose - but it's Mr Nosey all the same! Correct away my dear, I don't give a damn!
