very true (gulp!)

just having an early (!) breakfast before I nip off for my 9-15 assignation

4 day game against Durham starts today at Edgbaston so I'll be going along there later for a couple of hours hard cricket watching but no doubt I'll bump into you later if you don't manage to make it to the organic butter section

really should look at the script to put the date stamp on h2g2 posts as well - would be most useful

You weren't there!!!!! smiley - wah

I didn't get to Sainsbury's until 9-25 (lingered too long over breakfast) but I dashed around, frantically looking for the organic butter. When I found it - IT WAS ON THE TOP SHELF!!!!

Is this a deliberate plan by Sainsbury's to try to get nice short ladies to meet nice tall men?

But there was nobody within the required height range in sight - I wasn't that late! You could've waited!

I hung around for a while and even held up a notice saying "Ladies, having trouble reaching an item on the top shelf? Allow me to reach it for you. I'm very nice - and tall."

Eventually I was asked to leave by the manager and banned from all branches of Sainsbury's. So I'll have to start going to Tesco's now smiley - cry

Wonder where their organic butter is?

So you're here!! - that explains the Sainsbury's fiasco.

Got some redbush tea on your and wafflers' recommendations (although one of them didn't like it) and drinking my first cup now. It's quite nice, slightly smokey but not as much as Lapsang Souchong which I find a bit too strongly flavoured. Certainly better than the fruity teas if you're looking for something non-caff. I buy Twining's decaff English Breakfast for when I want a proper cup of tea but don't want any more caffeine.

smiley - tea Yes, I read your waffle with Carole! I find I can leave the bag in, it never tastes stewed then I can add more hot water for another cup! I'm so frugal. (Nice word isn't it) I got tired of fruity teas every evening and was on the look-out for an alternative when I went to stay with friends who drink only redbush. As I drink tea black anyway it suits me very well and I drink it all the time now. Must go and put the kettle on.

It's so difficult to have a private conversation here isn't it?! smiley - evilgrin

I did leave the bag in the mug without thinking about it as it happens - as I do for all non-tea infusions. Better go, cricket beckons. Have you read my bit in the waffle thread about the enormous Marmite sign?

And you get on with some work today young lady!

See you later

PS I must say I'm even making myself laugh rereading post 262

I thought what I was going to write as I was walking round Sainsbury's and started laughing then - no wonder everyone was steering well clear of me, not just the nice short ladies!!! smiley - rofl

This is very worrying. To be planning your h2g2 posts as you push your trolley round Sainsbury's is Not A Good Thing!!! Even worse to be chorlting out loud...
If I'm lucky, I'll bump into Douglas in my branch as he lives close by and he's a very very nice tall man.
Local shops now though - I'd rather be sun-bathing, it's so lovely again today.

Change of plan...Sainsbury's it is today. smiley - sadface If there are no nice tall men in the vicinity I'll have to use Plan B which is jump up with a packet of the longest spaghetti, whack the item off the shelf and attempt to catch it with the other hand. Plan B is not always a 100% success and it can attract quite a crowd.

Found the Roald Dahl short story about the couples playing Bridge; it's called My Lady Love,My Dove and it's in an anthology called Tales of the Unexpected as well as another collection which I can't check at the moment.

Just remembered - "Someone Like You" is the other collection which includes the story. It's not one of my favourites but as it's about bridge I recalled it the other day. Do you know these Roald Dahl stories? You must read Pig...though I'd recommend nearly all of them.

Just heard loud squealing from the garden and found Katie gently prodding a large frog with her paw. Scooped her up in one hand and was about to pick up froggie with the other but it squealed so loudly when I touched it that I had to let it go! I like holding frogs but they do have a habit of weeing all over you. Have you ever heard one squeal? I once heard one squealing from the bottom of the garden when we were in our old house - I rushed out, to find a massive frog with one of its back legs caught on the netting which which covered the pond. Fortunately it had attracted my attention before that of the magpies or cats. It's an amazingly loud squeal they have - almost a scream.

Back to the unloading of food. No nice tall men around but the organic butter was at the front of the top shelf so by tiptoeing I managed. The second row back had a longer date on so it still wasn't easy and I did manage to drop one on my head...

Hope the cricket was goof.

PS 3 min delay between posting on MBs today - makes quickfire Cheesey Gorge games tricky! Not that I've been wasting time on those of course...smiley - angel

Back from cricket - not very good I'm afraid, Warks didn't bat well so I left at 4-40 (tea) when they were 8 wickets down. Just had a look and they finished on 208 all out. Sat in shade, try to avoid sun because I overheat so easily. Popped in to allotment on way back - traffic dreadful, glad I don't have to do that journey every day, so I go a long way round which takes me past allotment. Grass is about 2 ft high in the overgrown part of plot. Onions rather weedy so gave them a quick hoe but didn't do anything else as not in gardening clobber - and it was too hot. Must earth up spuds before they get too big to do it. smiley - corncob will have to go in soon, getting quite big now.

I don't like butter (except for the midnight version) and never buy it myself.

Haven't noticed the 3 minute delay yet but then I spend hours considering what my next one word response to [whatever cheese it is] Gorge should be. My keyboard seems to be playing up - thought it was the batteries but have replaced them.

There's no delay here on h2gh2 thank goodness. We can continue our ill-considered flippant smiley posts with gay abandon. I think Firefox has been playing up as i couldn't open new windows earlier and the black Jont's scripts links didn't work at the top although I was on the proper computer downstairs with the scripts working. I'm going to have another go at installing the allinone up here now though when I look in Manage User Scripts I'm told it's enabled. I'll uninstall and start again. Little monkey's a healthy pink btw.

No I use Sainsbury's Sunflower spread on them - far better.

Forgot about yr Shakespeare - let me know about it asap.

Went to the open air Shakespeare in Ludlow Castle 3 times at least - but didn't have all that good luck with the weather. One of them got abandoned because of the rain. And at one of them some bird crapped all over my shirt which rather stopped me concentrating on the play!!

Shame about your unfortunate open-air Shakespeare experiences! We had drizzle and a cold wind 2 years ago and didn't go last year because of the rain.
I've walked round Ludlow castle but many years ago. I used to visit Ludlow at least once a year when one of my aunties had a bookshop there at the bottom of Corve Street - maybe you knew it - it was called Books and Chattels and was a lovely old wonky b&w building (origianlly 2 houses). The shop had a (pretend) coal fire and arm chairs in the middle and books rangng from rare to merely second-hand plus some pottery and stuff for sale. When her husband died, my aunt left Ludlow and last time we drove through, the shop had been converted back to houses.

Your eyes had gone last time i looked so it might be morning when you read this.

Bye bye,
