More obscure stuff for me to post below the main FF Entry, I think. Also useful for whoever ends up writing on FF2 and FF4.

Oh, and here's something quite interesting: the Bonus section at http://www.warmech.net has really early FF7 shots. (The FF7 section has SNES-style concept shots, but apparently they were put together by someone in the gaming press, not Square. Historically interesting, though.)

I've also come across claims that Eidos was planning to release PC conversions of FF5 and FF6 back in 1997. I haven't found any reliable confirmation, though.

And now WarMECH has an interview concerning the lost FF5 port in the Bonus section that I don't think was there before. Or if it was I didn't notice it...

Related RPGamer editorials, including a long analysis of the FF8 R=U theory.

Although I should note that the other two FF ones go an awfully long way in the rainbow-unweaving stakes.

This one's interesting, but owing to lack of familiarity with FF3 I really can't comment on it.

1) I'd be shocked if it didn't make it here, but there's no date yet.

http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ff12/ff12.html

2) What do you mean by 'Bestias'? If you mean 'beasts' (as in 'bestiary'?) then I think you mean what in English we'd usually call monsters or enemies. Anyway, you can find a lot of name origin theories at http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/name.shtml (click on 'Characters'), and the Entries I did on FF6-8 contain quite a few. Some of them are _very_ wild guesses, though.

3) 'Anima' is Latin for 'soul'.

Ah, right: the summons/sumonable creatures. They were G.F. in FF8, yes.
