Warm welcome to h2g2 from me...
My name is loup.dargent and I am one of the <./>ACEs</.> [Assistant Community Editors] who welcome newcomers and show them around the site...
Some links you might want to click on:
<./>DontPanic-Tour </.>... just in case...
[Actually, it is _also_ a tour of h2g2 explaining/showing what the site is about... So it is worth reading it _even_ if you are not panicking...]
A690518 ... with tips on how to spice up your page....
A1020592 ... another entry on how to brighten your page...
<./>ThePost</.> ... our virtual weekly newspaper...
<./>FRONTPAGE</.> ... for the... err... front page...
<./>smileys</.> ... with a list of... yep, you guessed it... smileys...
A719840 ... some interesting links there as well...
<./>info</.> shows you the convos going on right now plus some other stats...
Whatever your interests, chances are that you will find some stuff with infos on them or/and like minded people on here... Just let me know and I will do my best to provide you with the relevant links...?!
Another place that you might like to visit is <./>AskH2G2</.>...
A1355195 ... this one could also be useful if one day you want to submit an Entry to the Edited Guide and/or the UnderGuide...
Don't hesitate to visit my personal space [that can be done by clicking on my name at the top of this message or/and on U200238] and leave a message... or click on the reply button at the bottom of this posting...
Talk soon...

PS: If you visit my personal space and see your screen name appearing in some parts of my intro, do not be surprised or/and worried...
It's the result of a gimmick called tag which makes each visitor to my space see their own name...

Thank you for the references, and the introduction to H2G2. I made an introduction already, though it was not so much an an introduction as it was a chance for me to practice linking to other sights, and practice using smileys... so that, hopefully, the first article I submit here will look good. I have not found my way over to your intropage, but I will be there within the next few days.
I have been visiting h2g2 for a couple months just looking around and reading the articles, so I have actually seen some of the entries that you pointed out. I then got an idea for an article of my own and figured, "why not give writing a shot?"
My article idea:
Humans seem to have a bad reputation among virtually all supernatural creatures. Dragons seem to think that we like to dress up in tin cans and charge at them with metal sticks; the fae think that if they ever meet a human then they will find themselves captured and either sent to a zoo or experimented on by a mad scientist; and aliens from other planets are always abducting New Agers and telling them to live green (when they find the time between their abusive experimentations and sudden abductions).
Somebody must put an end to these stereotypes! That is why I am now on a mission to write the official h2g2 Dealing With Humans FAQ. Dragon-human, alien-human, and fae-human relationships are bound to improve once I address the many misconceptions held by the supernatural community.

Yeah... I had a look at your intro...
I see that you've got a nemesis as well... Mine is Count Mygale... A nasty piece of work he is... And he is an inter-dimension traveller... Which gives him an unfair advantage..
But... err... That's another story...
I like your idea for an entry... Should fit very well in the UnderGuide...
Actually, it might be worth submitting it to <./>ThePost</.> as well...
I can't wait to see the finished product...
If you ever have ideas about articles/stories about vampires and/or demons, let me know... I'm working on a collaborative project at the moment and we need stuff in the same calibre than the article on dragons...
[It doesn't have to be a long one... In this particular project, size (of an article) is not an issue...]
I'm bound to write an entry giving some details about that specific project one of these days [], so no rush...
My Personal Space is kinda out of date anyway and is in need of a massive re-vamp... So you haven't missed much...

Interdimmensional travelers are normally not too hard to deal with. With all their hopping around from dimmension to dimmension, they tend not not to become close friends with many people... and likely make more enemies than friends. Use that to your advantage, and Count Mygale should be easilly defeated. Make friends with his enemies.
Then again, my own nemesis is an ordinary snail and I cannot do a thing to him, regardless of my many expensive...
BIONIC ENHANCEMENTS! ()
Anyway, I have lots of catching up to (the two weeks I spend abroad are really hurting), so it will be a bit before I can participate much. I would be interesting in working on that collaborative project. Next weekend I will be busy, but maybe I can start something the following weekend...
But first things first! The rough draft to my Dealing with Humans FAQ is mostly done. It is kind of crappy. Maybe some editing will save the day.

Bumping the thread so that it doesn't get buried under the 20 + ACEings I've done today...
Count Mygale doesn't have any friends and he sure got lots of enemies... But I can't defeat him too easily though as that would ruin the plots for those potential five novels where he is after all one of the main characters...
[Yes, it's called "milking it", I know...]
I still got some work to do regarding the collaborative project... Nothing too drastic but it seems that I haven't recovered yet from the overtime I've done last week...
I do hope that I will be able to add the few things I want to add soon though, as I really would like to have something to show to the people interested in contributing to it as soon as possible... A sort of canvas [but with a lot of room allowed for more ideas/suggestions/etc] to work from in a way...
So no hurry for the article/story/contribution... A few weeks won't make much difference right now...
Talk soon...

I have some time on my hands this weekend, so I will edit my Guide to Dealing with Humans entry. Regardless of it not turning out as good as I thought it would, I think I might post the edited rough draft to see if I can get some input from other writers. Perhaps I need some help in order to make it work.

My (edited) rough draft, The (Un)Official h2g2 Guide to Dealing With Humans, is finally up! I am satisfied with it so far, but I think it still needs work.

Have you send me a telepathic message earlier on?! I actually had a look at it before reading your post...
Seeing the title on the <./>info</.> page did help, but still...
It's definitely something that could/should interest the UnderGuide crew and, eventually, <./>ThePost</.> [The post's (lovely) people have accepted my "How To Wear Water Around Your Neck..." Entry/Article for publication by the way ]...
Until I have a better look later on, I won't be able to comment in depth, but I have a feeling that something more could be done with the bit about people writing to the newspaper... It could be because I was expecting to click on a link there... Might be a good idea to list some newspapers like The Guardian, The Times etc [I could find the links to their respective websites if you want ] and include <./>ThePost</.> in it [a to the Hootooers in a way?!]... Actually, why not going all the way and also add the BBC?!...
I will come back to you with more ideas/suggestions/comments/etc as soon as possible...
First impression: I like it and can't wait to see the finished product...
Talk soon...
