"Purity ring" schoolgirl goes to High Court
Fri Jun 22, 2007 10:40AM EDT
LONDON (Reuters) - A teenage schoolgirl will appeal to the High Court on Friday to overturn a ban on her wearing a "purity ring" at school to symbolize her decision to abstain from sex before marriage.
Lydia Playfoot, 16, from West Sussex, says the silver ring is an expression of her faith and should be exempt from the school's rules on wearing jewellery.
"It is really important to me because in the Bible it says we should do this," she told BBC radio. "Muslims are allowed to wear headscarves and other faiths can wear bangles and other types of jewellery. It feels like Christians are being discriminated against."
Playfoot's lawyers will argue that her right to express religious belief is upheld by the Human Rights Act.
There have been a series of rows in schools in recent years over the right of pupils to wear religious symbols or clothing, such as crucifixes and veils.
Last year, the Law Lords rejected Shabina Begum's appeal for permission to wear a Muslim gown at her school in Luton. That case echoed a debate in France over the banning of Muslim headscarves in state schools.
Lydia Playfoot's parents help run the British arm of the American campaign group the Silver Ring Thing, which promotes abstinence among young people.
Members wear a ring on the third finger of the left hand. It is inscribed with "Thess. 4:3-4," a reference to a Biblical passage from Thessalonians which reads: "God wants you to be holy, so you should keep clear of all sexual sin."
Lydia's father, Phil Playfoot, said his daughter's case was part of a wider cultural trend towards Christians being "silenced."
"What I would describe as a secular fundamentalism is coming to the fore, which really wants to silence certain beliefs, and Christian views in particular," he said.
Leon Nettley, head teacher of Millais School in Horsham, denies discrimination, saying the ring contravenes the school's rules on wearing jewellery.
"The school is not convinced pupils' rights have been interfered with by the application of the uniform policy," he told the Brighton-based Argus newspaper. "The school has a clearly published uniform policy and sets high standards."

The Illusion of Stability and Permanence ...
Posted Jun 1, 2007
is just a mind trip. All these members trying to establish how permanent things are ... are truly DELUDED.

Delusions are un-sane. And these folks stuck in their dogma are the same individuals who threaten me and label me constantly as if I have unacceptable and politically incorrect ideas.
Never mind what comprises survival-behavior, these folks want their preferences to prevail. Pity them.

WORLD LEADERSHIP IS A-MORAL -- Filthy

NewsWithViews.com
Amoral---having no moral standards, restraints, or principles; unaware of or indifferent to questions of right or wrong:
Shallow. That is the best way to describe those who are being paraded before us as legitimate contenders for election to the highest office in the land. Men without chests is what C. S. Lewis coined them.
Has that ever been more apparent than what the two major parties present to us today? Oh, how I long for a man who will “call them as he sees them.”
But, unfortunately, the modern political philosophy of the day is that the safest position to take in politics is “no position,” or as we have seen in the latest “debates,” both positions! Today’s candidates have become masters of fence riding and double-speak. Sadly, most of the electorate, dumbed-down by government education and indoctrinated with moral relativism, is unable to fight through the fog.
As I listened to Rudy Guilani waffle--on about how he is “personally” against abortion but for a woman’s “right” to make the “difficult” choice it became obvious to me that Truth has fallen in the streets. Murder is now called choice. A-merica is becoming a-moral.
Too bad Rudy is not worried about terrorism in the womb. There will be terrorism in the world as long as we permit terrorism in the womb.
James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Psalms 94: 16-17 "Who will rise up for Me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity" "Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence."
No wonder America is wavering. Our leaders no longer believe in right and wrong.
Consider where this moral double-mindedness has taken us.
a.. Pornography is protected speech, but prayer is not.
b.. A 16 year can have an abortion but she can’t smoke a cigarette.
c.. Seat belts are mandatory, citizenship is not.
d.. Homosexuality is love, opposition to it is hate.
e.. We worship Mother Earth and deny Father God.
f.. Hip-hop vulgarity floods the school’s hallway while Gospel
expression is censored.
g.. Public school students told to have sex and to do drugs, but
Bible preaching is forbidden.
But the fix is in. After Ron Paul raised a few eyebrows in the
“debates,” the forces were marshaled against him to make sure that no “out-of-the-mainstream” positions were permitted on the stage. The pre-selected 1st tier of candidates were the only ones to be taken seriously. Congressman Paul and his ilk were not welcome in the “big tent” Republican debates. Make your choice, Rudy, McCain, or Romney. Any other candidate is a distraction because no one else is capable of winning.
And Christians are eating it up. We have been told to ignore the Republican Party’s amoral positions in an attempt to be more “inclusive.” Eeny, Meeny, and Miny, are your choices. Forget Mo, because he just can’t win.
So, I listened closely to what Eeny, Meeny, and Miney said last week. They’re great at double-speak. No matter which position you hold, they share it. What a deal! Finally a candidate that thinks like me!
But Rudy is the master. As I said before, he is “personally” against abortion, but for a woman’s right to “choose.” He would like to see all abortions “end” but doesn’t think the government should intervene in a woman’s right to “reproductive choice.” He likes Judges Scalia and Alito, but agrees with Judge Ginsburg.
So the candidates are able to get away with a position that supports the killing of innocent children in the safety of a mother’s womb, even though he/she is “personally” against abortion. What a crock. Allow me to extrapolate how vacuous this position is.
Since a candidate “supports” a position that he/she is “personally” opposed to, wouldn’t it be safe to assume that he/she applies the same rationale to other issues? Would you seriously consider a candidate who took the following positions?
a.. I am personally opposed to slavery, but I am for a slave-owners
right to choose.
b.. I personally oppose rape, but I am for a rapist’s right to
personal choice.
c.. I personally oppose murder, but I am for a murderer’s right to
do it.
d.. I personally oppose lynching, but I am for a white man’s
justice.
e.. I am personally opposed to incest, but I am for father’s rights.
f.. I personally oppose suicide bombings, but who am I to tell
another how he can express his faith?
g.. I personally oppose border jumping, but I am for a man’s right
to choose what is best for his family.
I am personally opposed to…………you fill in the blank.
Both positions is no position.
Judges 21:25 “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
We have reached a water-shed moment in American history. Double-mindedness will be our undoing. Compartmentalized morality will no
longer work. Amorality is no morality.
I Kings 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
Obviously, Almighty God is Pro-Choice. But He instructs us on what to choose.
Deuteronomy 30:20 " ... I have set before you life and death,
blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both you and your
children shall live. . ."
How have we reached the point where amoral men are chosen as leaders? Where personal morality can be separated from public morality? Where sin has become a government-protected right? And those who speak the truth are called radicals or negative.
Our Christian leadership encourages their flock to support the “lesser of two evils?” What Scripture verse is that, the supporting of any evil?
"Let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God." Exodus 18:21…
If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in
office, they will soon be corrupted . . . If our government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.” [Noah Webster, The History of the United States (New Haven: Durrie and Peck, 1832), pp. 336-337, 49]
Stop pointing your finger at the lost and start pointing your fingers at the found.
"If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it." --Charles Finney
If you have the courage, Read what Finney said about our Christian
duty. The salt has lost his savor and A-moral A-merica is rotting at the core.
Would Jesus tell us to vote for Eeny, Meeny, or Miney? Go ahead.
Follow their lead.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put
darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
A vote for them is a vote for WOE!
Do you think like a Christian or a humanist? Did the Founders really
separate Church and State? Is Judicial tyranny ruining America? Check out these great teachings by the Coach.
"Who will rise up for Me against the evildoers? or who will stand up
for me against the workers of iniquity" "Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence."
