This is not meant as a rebuke but I felt I had to comment on one of the things you said on the "Hoo's banned" thread.

I notice that you have been here for less than a year, that is not a criticism, but it does mean you cannot *possibly* know all the history of what has been termed the Della wars.

The racist comment happened, there is no dispute of this even from apple. But the interpretation of what it meant and the seriousness of the event is hotly disputed. Just because you have not seen the post (it has been hidden now BTW) does not mean it didn't happen. I think it was posted about 5 months before you joined the site.

Similarly the Death threat did happen, whether you give it credence or not, or think it was a mountain out of a molehill it happened and even Apple accepts this (though she disputes it was a bad thing to do).

My personal anthithipy toward her comes from a row I had with her and her family on a number of threads but specifically the Saddam/Bush thread which I think died at the fag end on '03. In fact on my "my convos" list you can see the end of that flame war where apple and her son Appy brought it to my PS. ("Running away" and so "called flame war" off the top of my head)

I am not saying I expect you to think that I/we are right, but I would like you to acknowledge that seeing as this is a dispute that has been going on for about 2 years it is unlikely that you can really know this has been going. What you have seen is only part of the process. The likes of me and Hoo and Blicky did not suddenly and spontaneously come to this pattern of behaviour without any provocation.

Like I said I don't expect you to agree with what I am saying here, but you should acknowledge I might have a point.

I never said I did know all the history of the Della Wars, although 1) I have done some digging and know a hell of a lot more now than I did this afternoon and 2)... I don't know, I had a second point a minute ago but I've been playing Jedi Outcast all evening and my brain isn't functioning properly.

I think I gave a pretty good summary of the Della Wars given what I knew at the time. I was never trying to delve deeply into the politics of it, rather I wanted to describe the Della War as it exists today. If this caused any offence to anyone I'm sorry.

This post was a lot longer about 30 seconds ago but I re-read it and a fair portion of it didn't actually make any sense... I think I need to sleep.

Like I said I am not trying to castigate you it is just I dont really feel that people not intimatly involved can properly understand.

Not least beacuse this war was going on on huge amounts of disparate threads at the time, even if you read ther famous ones it still gives only half a picture. And also a lot of the worst things IMHO that apple did and said have now been hidden. Unless you rember them then yuou are not ever going to get the whole picture.

And yes for the record I took big offence at what you said. It made as far as I am concerned it to look like the whole situation came about because a group of big bad bullies pick on someone for being a little bit dim. When in truth it is hugely more complicated than that.

I dont really expect anyone to necessarily agree with me about this, but I hope that before I am just castigated as a boorish bully people might appreciate there was a reason why I came to feel that way about Apple. Even if it doesn't exscuse my current behavior.
