Hi smiley - zoom I only know Corrie since she came on these pages. I put a message in the coffee bar about this site and you all came in about the same time. I did'nt have an E.Mail address from her, but she does have one on the SETI page.
She has a link to it on her page ( Where it says Click here to see how we're doing.) I don't know if she still uses it.
I hope all the work you are having done is going to plan. Have you ever heard an old song called 'The Gasman Cometh' If I can find the words here somewhere I'll post you a link. smiley - love Pamela.

FLYBYNIGHT

Hi Pamela,

Oh, I'd forgotten about it, isn't it lovely? I sang along with the last gasps of breath I have left. I'm exhausted.

I'm confined to my little den where the computer is, as everywhere else has stuff from the sitting-room and the kitchen in it.

The song was from a more leisurely time, when workmen came along when you wanted them. Nowadays you have to join the queue and my painter went off at 2.00 to move an old lady from part of her house to another, (at least, I hope he meant her furniture!) and will be back at 8-30 tomorrow. Hopefully he'll finish then. In the meantime I have no curtains up and people wave as they go by, very nice, but not exactly what I want.
I feel quite exhausted, had to think of my late husband who once said to me:
"No matter if the day be glum,
Rest assured there's worse to come."

That makes him sound a misery, but he was the opposite, really, we had so much fun together.

The painter follows me around telling me daft jokes, so that's why I escape. Next week he is the butcher for three weeks, as the owner goes on holiday!

Friday at 9.00 the curtains are coming, at 10.00 they're laying the carpet (same firm, thankfully) and then the front door has to come off to get the sofa out!!
The chairs are coming back!
In the corner of the room is such a large cluster of wires and plugs, somebody is coming along next Tue. to sort them out!!!!!

I suppose ONE DAY I'll sit back and admire it all, but I knew I would say at some point:"Why did I start all this?" Trouble is, I have to have some project, something to look forward to. If only I could sit back and relax.

I have got Corrie's e-mail address, but we've got out of touch, really, things change all the time, don't they?

Are you the same Pamela who I sometimes see on the MB's?

Right! I'm off again, the painter looked at the Vent-Axia in the kitchen and it looks like a small hairy dog hanging up there, I'd better clean it up before he paints all around it.

Bye for now,

smiley - love

Hello ,smiley - zoom I heve posted on boards a few times as Pamela, but on Johnnie Walker's board I usually post as Mi Amigo. I took the name from the ship that Johnnie was on in his pirate radio days. I thouoght that as ships are usually called 'she' it was a feminine name, but I have been told it's masculine. I know it means 'my friend.'
I've been posting a lot recently on the 'Talk Wales' 'The Garden' board.I changed my name there to Pamela 7416 and now it comes out as that on these message boards too, but it didn't change in this place. The Garden board is not about gardening. It's the board for the Chris Needs programme on Radio Wales. I've written a poem about it on a new guide entry. Do you listen to the radio often? Radio Wales is on the Internet if you want to try it one night.
Bye for now. smiley - love Pamela.

Hi Pamela

I shall have to have a listen to Radio Wales, I suppose that must mean you are Welsh, does it? Do you still live there?
I have a friend who is Welsh, her husband died just over a year ago but her sons live in Wales and she goes there quite a lot.

I suppose it was a bit daft to call a ship Mi Amigo, as, like you said, they are supposed to be female.
Come to think of it, they are often called after famous men, aren't they?
I think you and I are too clever by halves, don't you?

Seen the last of the painter to-day, shall be glad to get my curtains up tomorrow, nothing like drawing the curtains at night and feeling all cosy.

Speak soon,

smiley - love

Hi smiley - zoom I am Welsh, smiley - dragon but I don't speak much of the Welsh language. I'm from Maesteg, a town in a welsh valley. It used to be like the old films you may have seen, with mines and choirs, but over the last 20 to 30 years it's changed a lot. There are no mines now but we do still have town choirs. In oneway it is good that the men don't have to work underground but sad that a lot of them have to go out of the valley to work.
The community feeling isn't as close as it used to be which is a shame. Reading some of your posts here I see you come from Holland. Have you been here a long time, and doyou find it different here?
Byefor now,
smiley - love from Pamela.

Hi Pamela

There used to be coal mines in Holland, but they were closed quite a long time before the British ones. They are a tourist attraction now! But I had a friend who used to work there, at least, I was a very young girl when I got to know him, and by then he was retired. He had lots of blue marks on his face, which, I was told were bits of coal embedded in his skin.
He was very highly paid and bought a beautiful house, I remember.

Yes, I've been here quite a long time and yes, at first I thought things were very different.
I've always liked the English people (don't know many Welsh ones) and I've always found them very kind.
There were a lot of cultural differences at first but nowadays things are much the same everywhere in Europe, I suppose.
Strange how National characteristics remain, though. I've always been too open and honest for my own good, it's a real Dutch thing.

I came from Eindhoven, don't know if you know it, and now live in a small village in Sussex and I love it. There's so much going on, you could be out every day if you wanted to, although I love being at home. And the computer doesn't help! Spend far too much time on it.

I have a circle of about 8 Dutch girl-friends, but we don't live very near each other, so meet up about 4 times a year, which is great fun. Funny thing is, NONE would like to live in Holland again. When we meet we are loud and Dutch, people in the pub wonder what on earth has hit them.

I enjoy talking to Belgian Chocolate as he lives in a part of Belgium which is quite near the Dutch border and they speak Flemish, so we are nearly compatriots.

Must ask my friend if she's heard of your village.

Hismiley - zoom Catherina.
The nearest big town to Maesteg is Bridgend, about 20 minutes driving. We are half way between two big cities. Swansea is about 40 minutes driving in one direction and Cardiff, the Welsh capital is about an hours drive in the opposite direction.
We have a lot of pubs in Maesteg and some of the social clubs have entertainment, mainly local artists. Our town Hall puts on shows ,our operatic society did Hello Dolly there last month.

To see the more famous names we have to travel. My friend and I usually go to Swansea Grand Theatre when we can. We like the pop music from the 1960s, as that is our age group. Last month we saw Ivy league, Hermans Hermits, The Troggs, and P.J. Proby. all in the same show in Swansea. We also saw Tom Jones there a few years ago, Also seen David Essex a few times. We also saw 1960s Rock and Roll singer Marty Wilde in Porthcawl last week. They have a lovely theatre there, right on the sea front.
What kind of music do you like?

Hismiley - zoom,
This name change is only until Hallowe'en. So is BDG's . Then we're back to normal. Everytings smiley - ok with me. I've had a couple of enjoyable Saturdays lately.Went to Porthcawl to the Elvis Festival concert and to the Chris Needs concert.

I see there are still pest problems on some of the message boards. I don't know if you saw any of my posts to BDGsmiley - fish about the Talk Wales Garden board where I was a regular poster. There was so much trouble there that it got taken down.smiley - sadface Why can't people enjoy themselves without causing trouble.smiley - huh One of the posters has set up a personal board and we are posting happily and peacefully there. Hope it stays that way.

I still look in here when I get time ,I look in the Coffee Bar

Hi Pamela,

Yes, there's so many newbies in the Coffee Bar I don't know most of them either.
This morning I posted in there and they ignored me as if to say: "Who on earth is that?"smiley - sadface
I suppose that wouldn't have happened when we had our number of postings by our name. I had over 4000 and it would have shown I wasn't a newbie, wouldn't it?

I don't know why some people have to spoil everything either. Can't understand it, can you? But even without that I don't think it's so much fun any more.

Hope you have a good weekend and I'd better go and practise my typing, I think I've had to type everything 3 times on here. and I've only had 3 smiley - bubblysmiley - bubblysmiley - bubbly

Cheerio for now, Pamela.

What a wonderfully civilized area to find oneself in! Thanks for just being! You seem to have a Dutch flavour underlying things here, and that brings back some great memories for me. Nice to meet you.
