ACE's welcome!!

I'm popping in as one of the assistant community editors here, we greet & welcome the recent registrants, as well as leaving them a few tips for getting around the site & feeling a bit more at home here. As you are quite new, your first stop should be the 'I am new, what do I do now? page'@ A868098 . Or you can go to the 'Welcome page'@ A53146 . And I suggest that you take the <./>dontpanictour</.> ...just in case.
One of the more prominent features of h2g2 or hootoo as it's also known, are the <./>smileys</.> , that link'll take you to a whole categorized list of 'em. It gives you simple instructions for using/creating each one & you can refer back to it anytime by typing smileys into the search window. As far as decorating & personalizing your space/page, you can look at 'spicing up your page@ A690518 . Or, there's 'the picture gallery'@ A692741 , also, if you've done any HTML you shouldn't have much trouble with 'the GuideML clinic'@ A187229 .
A few of my ACE colleagues have compiled lists of links designed to assist recent registrants. You can find Seraphina's Links@ A1103815 , Shea's List is@ A534953 , while Feisor's List Of Links are@ A719840 . Feisor suggests getting out & meeting people, you can do that in a number of ways. The relatively recently established Drinkers Club for new researchers@ A2215450 is a great idea, you can meet other new researchers there. Another great option is or are the variety of Clubs & societies@ A660340 , you're sure to make some friends in one location or other.
And of course you can contact me, either of 2 ways. Simply use the 'Reply' button below to send me a message, the alternate route is clicking on my underlined nickname at the top of this message to visit my space at some point - you can also leave me a note there.
But, get settled in & go over all the links carefully, there's a fair bit to learn but once you've gotten a few basics under your belt (so to speak), you'll definitely be quite a bit more comfortable here. In any case this's quite a friemdly place, so I don't imagine you'll have any trouble settling in...but feel free to drop me a note if you have any problems, ok. Bye for now! *waves*

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
