Hi there BR,

I'm just fine thanks.

One step at a time good buddy, even the longest journey starts with the first small stepsmiley - smiley

Although I no longer ride bikes, I still miss them. In the summer there are certain places where bikers congregate, just to mix and chat, you know how it is; I still go and have a laugh and a look at all the great machines. Saw one today, a Gold Wing 1500 trike, ridden by a lady in her advancing years. That great feeling I used to get every time I threw my leg over, started it up and just went! I’ll never forget it.

Enough for now, you take good care and hope to speak with you soon.

smiley - cheers and keep on truckingsmiley - biker

So what bike did you ride?
And why on earth did you stop?!

Hi BR,

I have ridden virtually all English makes of bikes; they were my father's or brother's.

The last bike I owned was a Kawasaki 650cc. It was a great bike, top end not too hot about 115mph, but Oh! Boy did it accelerate. The bike I had the most fun on though was a Honda 250cc, yeah I know not much, but I toured the UK on this bike, with my mates; it was a particularly good time in my life then, I didn’t give a fig for any thing; very selfish, yes, but I was too busy enjoying it allsmiley - biggrin

Marriagesmiley - wahsmiley - wahsmiley - wah

Always said I would get another, but it never worked out. Now since my wife's serious car smash 14 months ago, she would worry herself silly if I bought a bike. My young daughter would be afraid for me as well.

Never mind, I still enjoy looking and talking with bikers, they are all such a great bunch of guys. You know, that's what I miss the most, the camaraderie.

Wishing you a clear road, the bike of your dreams and a great ride for the rest of your life.

You take care BR smiley - biker

PS Do you have a bike now?

Kawsaki ZX10. The other guy's insurance had to cover it and since my one was in pieces...
But it's not green though. Not a chance. I've got mine in mainly black with a bit of silver work on it.smiley - smiley

Hi BR,

A very nice machine. It'll fly.

No not green, that's not our lucky colour for vehicles. My M-I-Law always told us not to buy a green coloured car. I took no notice. My wife and daughter ended up in hospital after a very bad car crash - the car was green!

Sounds silly but no more green cars.

Take care

The green just didn't suit me. Ok so this sounds vain, but I didn't want it to clash with my clothing smiley - erm Sorry...

Not vain, good bike, clothing to matchsmiley - ok.
Ialways preferred black clothing, but black coloured bikes were hard to come by at the time.

Hi BR,

A friend of mine had a new Laverda Jota (drool) and he had it sprayed black with a full racing faring! It was beautiful.

Just one problem, he could not ride it because he was banned from driving for one year three days after he bought it smiley - laugh.

So the shop he bought it from re-sprayed it black with a gold trim all free, including the faring, on condition he allowed them to show the bike in their shop for the year he was banned. He agreed. We used to drive him the 50 miles to the shop on a Saturday so he could stand and look at it for a couple of hours smiley - rofl.

130 in a 40 mile limitsmiley - winkeye

Can't understand why he was bannedsmiley - tongueincheek

Not long after he was back on the road, once again he was stopped for speeding. The policeman looked at his licence and saw all these stamps in the back for speeding. The policeman asked him if he was collecting them!smiley - rofl

Cop turned out to be a smiley - biker and let him odff with a warning! I was not so lucky when ever I were stoppedsmiley - sadface

I'm a speed-freak myself smiley - cool Can't help it.smiley - laugh
Which is ironic that I was actually travelling the normal speed limit, instead of speeding when the accident happened...smiley - erm

Hi BR,

That's seems to be the norm. When I was caught speeding it was always (except for once) when I was doing 40 in a 30 limit. I was only ever caught once at 90.

The only reason the cop caught me then was I had to slow down for roundabouts and traffic. Cop smiley - bluelightadmitted he would not have caught me and he never had my plate number. If only I had know that at the time! I promise you he would not have caught me, I would not have slowed down!

smiley - bikers like motorists in general, are easy pickings for the police.

How are you healing, well I hope?

Take care BR, speedy recovery.

smiley - cheers

I leave my number plate off smiley - smiley Besides a fine for no number plate is a LOT lighter than a speeding fine!

Healing is going smiley - bleeping slowly, but yeah, I guess these things do take time...

Hi Black Raven, Black Knight of the Fortuneswell Realm,

Take the plates off ... smiley - erm ... I never thought of that one, none of us did smiley - doh! We used to smear them with mud, not too much though, just enough to obscure them and if the smiley - bluelight should stop us we'd plead innocent!

You bettchya the healing will take time. But after the injuries you suffered I think you have done smiley - bleeping wonderful!

Hey, this guy at work has a big Honda, can’t recall the model’s name, but it is big; seat high off the ground and a full faring. As he mounted the bike he lost his balance and gently keeled over. He had gloves on but the lever trapped the tip of one of his fingers on his right hand. When he took his glove off, his finger tip fell out!

When he told us he got a lot of sympathy - after we all stopped laughing smiley - rofl, we could not help but smiley - laugh.

Take care BR, do as the DRs tell you (yeah, right), and you’ll heal quicker.

smiley - cheers

Hi BR,

Yeah it is gross! But you know all he could think of was the damage to his bike ... at least he got his priorities rightsmiley - laugh.

On holiday with my wife (then girlfriend) we were touring Scotland and were loaded up with all sorts of gear, you know what women are like! Well we decided to stop for a coffee and some thing to eat at an old converted railway station. I turned right in to the drive and OH asked me to stop for a minute. I pulled up and went to put my left foot on the tarmac ... guess what it wasn't there! The ground sloped off and dropped to the left, we gently keeled over damaging the indicatorssmiley - sadface.

Of course there just happened to be a coach load of people watching, I felt a right Wally!

smiley - cheers Take care BR

That's true biker spirit!

And there always seem to be people watching when something goes wrong, but there's no one to see a perfect wheelie at high speeds!smiley - laugh
