You know, I don't even dream when the doc jabs me to sleep, so you're right about it being boring!
Also don't you find that you wake up even more tired the next day? I find that when I fall asleep without the sleeping meds,, I sleep so much better!

Just remembered what a Doc told me about sleeping meds....

He reckoned there are three parts to a normal sleep;

1st) First level as you begin to drift into a deep sleep.

2nd) This level is at the bottom of the graph, and you are in a real deep sleep.

3rd) This level is as you start to come out of the deep sleep, just before you wake up.

Now this Doc said you only dream in the first and third levels, but not in the second level, the deep sleep. The drugs did away with the 1st and 3rd levels and took you straight into a chemically induced 2nd level. Hope I’m making myself clearsmiley - erm?

Doc also went on to say the chemically induced sleep stopped patients from thrashing around whilst asleep; this was important for some one who has had invasive surgery, as it lessened the likelihood of them tearing their stitches open during sleep.

I think I may have been a little too flippant in my previous post regarding you taking your prescribed medication, sorry if I was but it’s the way I deal with these situations; a good laugh helps me no end. Docs and some nurses can be tyrants, and so some patients can be very awkward also (not you of coursesmiley - laugh) I suppose THEY do know what’s best for you after all.

Just get well soonsmiley - oksmiley - biker.

Yeah I understand what you're saying about the sleep - that fits exactly what I'm feeling. When I came out of the coma they strapped me down to the bed because I as thrashing around a lot, and even for a while after that I was terribly restless.
But right now my stomach feels like it's in my throat and I'm horribly nauseaus. It's the after effect of the sleeping meds they gave me on the weekend - I woke up too early on Saturday morning (like at around 3 'o clock), and my doc wasn't on shift so the nurse on duty went to get a sleeping jab for me and that was the one that my doc had given me before that I'd had the allergic reaction to and she didn't know that and I didn't know what she was giving me until it took bad effect. Not cool. Seriously not cool.

"allergic reaction. Seriously not cool" ... bl**dy hell! That's not cool at all, down right dangerous in fact.

How are you feeling now? How did the op. on your lung go?

Keep sticking with it kiddo, don't let it grind ya downsmiley - ok.

Just remember all fun the fun things you can do when you finally get rid of all the ops. and all the Docssmiley - laugh

Raven - I think I know what happens next

It happened once before when my doc changed my sleeping meds and I reacted very badly to it, so he made a note in my file about that, but the other night I woke up at some ungodly tim,e of the morning and that doc had left already and the nurse on duty (who is standing in for one of my usual nurses while she's on leave) went to get another injection to put me back to sleep and didn't check my file. That's coz very very few people are allergic to sleeping meds and it's not usually something docters test. I don't know the difference between them untill everything starts going wrong anyway, and it's damn scary.

The lung op was a success, thanks. Had a weird bloated feeling in my chest for a bit after that, but it's gone now. Makes a difference to have both lungs working again smiley - smiley

How you doing? What you been up to?

You should put a note over your bed to remind them of your allergy!

I'm fine, no worries. OH has taken a turn for the worse to day; it some times happens, all to do with her broken neck healing. It's a slow process, but you know all about thatsmiley - biggrin. Thanks for asking any way.

Hi there BR,

How are you feeling today? smiley - ok I hope.

My OH broke her neck in November of 2005; she was going driving up a small, steep hill with a sharp left hand bend in it. As she went round the bend a white van driver was travelling too fast coming down the hill and never made the bend. He never even tried to brake. OH claims to this day there was no one at the wheel; he was bent down picking some thing from the floor of his vehicle.

He admitted it was his fault and made a statement to police at the scene of the accident. He was not prosecuted because the police mixed up the evidence!!! His insurance has admitted liability, now it is all in the hands of solicitors; who must be making a fortune from this!

She broke the 2nd vertebrae in her neck which left a small piece touching her spinal cord every now and then. The specialist has told me not only is she lucky to be alive but very fortunate not to be paralyzed from the neck down. Our 8 year old daughter was in the car as well and she has suffered night mares ever since; thank goodness she was not physically hurt, just scratched and bruised here and there.

It’s turned cold again over here; how I would love to bask in the sun, walk along a warm beach then just throw my leg over a really nice bike…now who’s dreaming smiley - rofl.

Who or what is a JD?

Take care mate
