Jimster,
I can't seem to reply to any posts. I keep getting bounced to the front page. Is this something that should be looked at? Caerwynn just emailed thru OTD, and she can't reply either. Although it seems I can start a new thread...
shoot.

It works OK for me - in brunel, alabaster, and this is classic

And this is in plain. So that's all OK. Can you do me a favour?
Go to a conversation, right-click over the 'Reply' link/button and choose 'Copy Shortcut' or 'Copy link to clipboard' or something similar. Then post it (in a new thread if necessary) which might tell us what's happening.

Also, at which point are you being bumped to the frontpage? When you click Reply? Or when you click on the Post Message Button?

Caerwynn has just reported this here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/hub/F94024?thread=401833 It seems she can post to the Hub, but not to h2g2...

Maybe a problem with frames?
If I see this page as FP the Addthread-link is okay, but in frames the reply button links to http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/FFM432?thread=402093&skip=0&show=20#p0

However, I *do* get the FFM page, not the frontpage, so it's not exactly the same...

Jim Lynn Posted Mar 30, 2004
That might be possible, although Brunel doesn't use frames, so it's not necessarily that. Worth trying, though.

The problem *I* see, only happens in frames. And it has nothing to do with browsers, same behaviour in Safari, IE, and Firefox.

I'm getting the same as Ottox - if I set my prefs to 'frames', the reply button in Alabaster and Classic links to FFM432?thread=402097&skip=0&show=20#p0
I'm not being taken to the front page as MR was. It does take me to FFM432?thread=402097&skip=0&show=20#p0 and the reply button there also takes me to FFM432?thread=402097&skip=0&show=20#p0
I can't replicate MR's problem in Brunel at all.
For the record, I'm using IE5 for Mac, elthough I don't think it's a browser problem.

I can see the frames problem myself. I still haven't worked out what could be causing the frontpage problem.

"I can't replicate MR's problem in Brunel at all."
Neither can I. And I can't replicate Caerwynn's problems with preview either.

The previous reply problem was just with journal entries. Odd that it should spread to normal threads. I suppose not enough testers use frames if that's what is causing this one.

Jim Lynn Posted Mar 30, 2004
Well, I've fixed what looks like the most likely cause of the bug. I'm slightly worried that people were reporting it in brunel, because it *should* only have happened when using frames.

SEF Posted Mar 30, 2004
Isn't that part of the point though - that brunel still knows about the frames setting even if it is not supposed to use it. So there is always the possibility that some code will get invoked.
