"But this means you're okay"
If by OK you mean "Not lying dead on the operating table, but sitting at home with a foot long wound looking at 4-6 weeks of recuperation" then yes, I'm definitely OK.
Seriously, although I was reasonably sanguine about going in for my op, I couldn't shake off the tiny fear in the back of my mind that something terrible would happen and I'd end up dead. I had an anxiety dream the night before that the anaesthetic wouldn't work, and they kept asking me if it was hurting, and I was trying to tell them it was but they wouldn't listen. I'm only glad I didn't wake up screaming - that would have been embarassing.

But that didn't happen. But major ops are traumatic, and I know really they are. So our best wishes are with you and take as long as it takes, we just need you back here! But take time to recover! We miss you!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
