Hi ChiKiSpirit
Sorry for not having replied earlier, but I'm not always on these days. Since I retired I suddenly find myself very busy.
How did I find time for work?
What other format did you use?
Previously?

ChiKiSpirit Posted Nov 13, 2006
It must have been an older version.
Please tell me more about your retirement.
Are you visiting many beautiful resorts?

Well, yup, we went to Cyprus to see some friends there. Also been to Littlecote, an old manor house turned hotel near Hungerford. There was a visit to Broad Blunsdon in the Cotswolds. We went there are we are having our ladies festival there and wanted to check out the hotel. We went to a ladies festival in June in Bournemouth and one in Lyndhurst, and are booked in to two others, also in Bournemouth, next year. One in April and the other in June. For Christmas we are going to visit Colleen's son who lives in Florida. We go for Christmas and come back for the new year.
I dabble in writing and a friend and I are now converting one of my short stories into a TV play.

What are you doing for Children in Need?
They still need to raise another 3 million
I shall be washing my car tomorrow

The Liquid Warrior (Vescere bracis meis) Posted Nov 20, 2006
I see, washing your car, so you only ever wash your car once a year for children in need?
Only joking
Had a busy day Sunday. We popped over to see Colleen's brother who is very ill with cancer. Then we went to a local restaurant for lunch, we have a privilege card and so got a free bottle of wine to go with the meal. In the afternoon we addressed envelopes and folded and put into them invitations to our ladies night. Then Coll's nephew dropped by with his wife. He is the son of Coll's brother. We had four phone calls from friend's during the evening.
Got a lot on today. Gym to see personal trainer, eye check up after the operation, pop in to see Coll's granddaugther who is off school ill and nip into Morrison's. I have just scurried home to print up some more invitations.
You know I don't know how I found time for work, been so flipping busy.
How's yourself? Apart from car cleaning that is.

I changed my mind about cleaning the car. It is too cold and seeing as it is so mucky and muddy I don't see the point in
washing my car if it is just going to get dirty again. It is quite old now. If I had a posh new car I would probably wash and
polish it every weekend, although I hate to think how much water gets wasted every year from everyone washing their cars.
I wonder how many gallons of water are used? Do you have any idea?
I am sorry to hear that Colleen's brother is very ill. She must be worried about him.
Lunch with free bottle of wine sounds like a good idea.
Yes, once you retire you're always busier than you were before you retired, so I've been told, I haven't retired yet.
I'm looking for work. Having been self-employed for a long time and then having to get back on the job market is not
an easy task. It was a different story when I was working from home. I used to cook, clean, look after the house, the children, take the
dogs for a walk, keep my eye on the builders and do my work.
I've been doing a 'Women Returners' course to help with my CV. It has been extremely helpful.
We should have it finished within the next couple of weeks.
It's been nice communicating with you again. I hope all goes well with your Ladies' Night invitations.
Speak to you again soon.

Busy day. Been trying to re write play. Also been to the gym. Trying to loose weight. Have dropped from 14.13 to 12.08, so that is very good. Clothes don't fit any more. Trousers were 44 waist now 38 and even that is a bit big. Now have jackets 42 and not 44. So things are going well. Trouble is Coll is too good a cook and has been making some eccles cakes, which I am rather partial to.
Keep in touch
Good hearing from you again. Don't forget the old LW.

There is nothing wrong with rewarding yourself with an eccles cake now and then. Congratulations on losing so much weight.Just remember not to put it back on again.
Keep on writing the play. Have you written any books?

About 20 years ago I had six short stories published and two radio plays transmitted.
I have always said that you don't choose writing. It choose you.

Just been to see the latest Bond film. Both Coll and I thought it was quite good, but the couple we went with said the first hour was rubbish and at the end it wasn't a Bond film at all.
Still can't please every one.

Well I haven't seen any films at all I very rarely go out these days, in actual fact this website is one of my only forms of entertainment and most of the time people try to spoil it for me.
I'll speak to you again some other time.
Look after yourselves

Look after your self too. I'm sorry people try to ruin it for you. I will try not to do that for you. Keep in touch.

Thank you for your kind reply.
I have been thinking about what I said to you earlier. As well as being entertainment for me, it also my work. I am a self-employed piano teacher. With the grand total of ONE student at the moment ...
I also write music so I suppose you could say I am a composer...
Must remember to pay my Class 2 contributions within the next couple of days. Of course I will keep in touch. You are one of the nicest people I type to on h2g2 for you and for Coll

Thank you
I am jealous, not being able to play a note. But Coll and I enjoy dancing so I suppose that is related somehow. When ever I'm on H2G2 I have music in the background.Right now it is Louis Armstrong. But I have been listening to John Denver before that and I have some Chopin to put on later, when I feel like a rest.

ChiKiSpirit Posted Dec 1, 2006
There's no need to be jealous. I am sure your writing is very good.
I'm not listening to anything at the moment, apart from the owls hooting outside. May try an owl song later.

I recall abvout three years ago, when I had my border collie. I took her for a late night walk and there was this massive owl in the road. Obviously over a kill. It took off as I approached. I was surprsied at how big it was

ChiKiSpirit Posted Dec 2, 2006
I haven't actually seen any owls, not live ones, only stuffed ones (which I left behind) I would rather see them alive.
I have seen quite a few varieties of bird. I won't tell you about them here just now, maybe later
I hope you and Coll have a lovely day
I will keep in touch

Had Coll's family for Sunday Lunch. Really nice time. They are upset we won't be here for Christmas.
Bit chilly today. Windy too.
Just been chatting to my writer friend and we are getting on with play very wll. Plan to meet Friday.
Been watching a TV series called Lost. Enjoyed the first series, thought the second was a bit iffy, but think the third series is getting silly.
Key: Complain about this post
