You are sure giving good debate on the PC thread.
Do you really feel people are always misreading you here?
I just thought blicky had totally missed the point of what you were saying, so I told him this. But you seem to write in a similar way to me - just very straight forward, shooting from the hip as it were, very direct and not embellished with a lot of niceties. So maybe that's why I recognise things sounding perhaps 'hard' when they aren't really meant that way.
Well, people will get used to you. Or you will learn to express things in slightly different ways. Or both. People are mostly used to me now, but I find this makes me feel even more careful about how I express myself. Go figure.

Not always, but it's happened a few times (and I haven't been here that often or for very long) that I say something and a group of people all start attacking me and calling me names//accusing me of saying things and holding views that I never said and refusing to admit that I might possibly not be an evil idiot. It doesn't always happen, but it happens a lot and it's making me consider just getting off H2G2 entirely. Somehow, I just seem to make enemies who don't bother to worry about what I've actually said when I say things.
<>
This hasn't been my first negative encounter with blicky; I should perhaps just try to avoid him/her/it from now on.
<>
I'll try to express myself more politely, but I think that a lot of the things I've said are being intentionally misinterpreted because I can't imagine they come off as horribly as a lot of people seem to think they are.

Perhaps whenever was a bit of an exageration; I was angry at the time and probably should have phrased that a bit better.

I'm starting to wonder if I should change my name here and start over. Maybe next time I won't end up with so many enemies.

I don't think it's a case of you actually having *enemies*. And I think it is better for you to continue being who you are here rather than trying to change your identity and 'start again'. Because you actually have quite a few friends here.
In some ways you might feel a bit chuffed that people are responding so strongly to you - this means you are perhaps making them think or making them question things. Either that or you're just pissing them off!
Thing is, if people start ranting at you and calling you names, this is in your favour (in terms of debate) because your opponent has already lost points by stooping to that sort of thing. And each time you respond calmly and with more information - just as you did today on the PC thread - this shows everyone that you are in control of what you are wanting to say and also that you are willing to look at other viewpoints, that you are being reasonable.
You don't need to develop a 'fake' politeness. I don't think this would suit you at all. You have a very feisty personality and this is what, in part, makes you interesting.
As for blicky, he can be very belligerent. I'll wait to see what he has to say to your response. He happens to be one of my very dearest hootoo friends here. In fact, he is my 'little brother'. Which isn't to say I don't or won't disagree with him. Though I will say that if it had been anyone other than blicky giving you sh*t this morning I would have had much stronger words for them. But in this case I was trying to give both of you the benefit of the doubt.
Anyhow, give it some time and don't give up. I think you're doing great.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe people really are ganging up on me. Either way, it wouldn't be the first time.
<>
Maybe.
<>
I guess so.
<>
Or, apparently to some people, offensive.
<>
I guess I just haven't been around here enough to learn what is normal behavior for certain people and what isn't.

Thanks.

Yeah well, who are you gonna believe - me or them???
One thing you might want to keep in mind is that some of the people I have seen tussle with you (for example on the god thread and the FFFF thread) actually do this with everybody. And because you are quite outspoken you end up getting responses from them.
Also, there is a difference between someone 'attacking' you and 'challenging' you (though in a heated debate it's sometimes hard to tell the difference). Most people who attack me seem to be of a similar type, mainly very insecure. They feel a need to 'cut me down a notch or two'. Which quite frankly is their problem, not mine.
Although it is always a good policy to be as polite as possible, you really can't please all of the people all of the time, so you may as well just be yourself. Not everyone is going to like you. But you will probably find that you actually don't like these people either.

You; any attempt at fake polightness I made would just sound sarcastic and offend them more, anyway.
<>
I didn't realize it; I haven't been here for long and haven't had a chance to observe many people's behavior.
<>
I realize that. I also consider the claim that I am/should be against braile books because I think political correctness is overemphasized or that I am stupid and ignorant because I think replacing short words with long phrases and declaring lists of words forbidden despite their past usage in an unoffensive way personal attacks. Or else simply not paying any attention to reality and replying without reading.
Thanks for the advice.

Maybe we got each other wrong or matbe one or both of us wasnt being clear.
I didnt mean to say you were against braille boks etc...What I was trying to get at is that there are similar adaptations of the way we do things and the way we use language that are necessary to help those who are disadvantaged by the way we do and say things.
I dont think you need to get a new identity. Ive stuck with one and had some harsh run-ins with people even a death threat, but those things are by far and away exceptions.
I remeber you from the God thread and dont have anything against you either then or now. Although I do reserve the right to disagree with anyone.
Even my bigSIS.

Yeah well, just gave you sh*t on the PC thread, little bro.
Honestly. Ask if you are in doubt. Leaping to conclusions and accusing others of their own worse fears is something the big D does - not you!
Yes, you can disagree with me too. But on the PC thread you have chosen to jump all over Lemon and not me when both of us are saying very similar things.
Afraid of playing with someone your own size???

Maybe I was overreacting, but some of the things said (I'm not sure they were all said by you) did seem like they were meant as personal attacks and not challenges to what I'd said.
