Dragons Dragons Everywhere
Red ones. Gold ones. Green ones. Silver ones. And of course blue ones. Obviously I’m a huge fan of dragons. I have been all my life. Given the option, I would defiantly be a dragon rider on Pern. That is assuming of course that I survived the selection process. If you enjoy science fiction and fantasy, I highly recommend Anne McCaffrey’s work.
In real life, I’m an entrepreneur, a frustrated/aspiring writer, and tinkerer.
“An entrepreneur you say?” My partner and I have been running a small business for 25 years. It’s been an interesting journey and we’re just getting started. Maybe I should mention that my partner is my father and I started out picking up trash and cutting grass around the office when I was 10. But after 25 years, we’ve started to move our eggs into other baskets. Diversification is the word of the day.
A frustrated/aspiring writer. So few words to describe what seems like an insurmountable goal at times. Writing is my passion. I love working to find the right turn of a phrase. Finding just the right word. Trying to pare down every sentence until it says exactly what I want it to say without to many extra words. I’ve got a long way to go and a lot to learn about it. My spelling is horrible,(yea spell checkers). My grammar is passable, at least my word processor has a grammar checker too. Although the more I write, the less I need to depend on my grammar checker. But I love spinning a tale, telling a story. Actually I just love writing. It really doesn’t matter what I'm writing as long as I'm writing. A short story. Another chapter in a novel. (Even if no one will ever read these first two) A letter at work. An entry here at h2g2. It’s all good.
I guess the love of dragons gives away my interest in Sci/Fi and fantasy. Throw in a little horror and you have the main jist of my reading, movie/TV viewing and writing topics.
I’m a firm believer that the most important thing you can do in life is never stop learning. Our lives are a series of moments strung together, and most of them provide us with the opportunity to learn something new.
Of course I guess this has turned me into something of a jack of all trades and master of none. But I won’t let that stop me from continuing to learn. Who knows, maybe someday, given adequate time, I’ll actually master a few of them.
