Hi Louise!

I'm one of the many Assistant Community Editors or ACEs here. We pop in on the recent registrants to greet & welcome them, as well as giving them some tips for getting around the site. I guess somehow the other ACEs missed you...& I was out last night.

Anyway, now that I am here can I offer you a or or anything? Perhaps some or maybe some ? Those're just a few of the <./>smileys</.> , one of h2g2's most prominent features. Clicking on that link will take you to the complete categorized list of 'em. It gives simple instructions for using/creating each one, & you can refer back to it anytime by just typing smileys into the search window.

Since you are relatively new, you can check out the 'I am new, what do I do now?' page@ A868098 , or I suppose if you require a welcome other than mine, check the 'Welcome page'@ A53146 ...& while there's certainly no reason to panic, you might want to hop on the & take the <./>dontpanictour</.> ...just in case.

For decorative purposes you can check 'spicing up your page'@ A690518 , or 'the picture gallery'@ A692741 . The other option is 'the GuideML clinic', which I'm told isn't all that difficult if you've done any HTML, that's@ A187229 . Oh & speaking of 'decorative' I should mention the h2g2 'Wallpaper' choices for your computer@ A1136242 .

You might be interested to know Louise, that like most large communities h2g2 has numerous Clubs & Societies, you'll find the full, categorized listings @ A660340 . And like any sizeable community hootoo (as it's also known) has its own newspaper <./>thepost</.> which comes out every Thursday.

Some of my esteemed ACE colleagues have compiled lists of links designed to assist new researchers. Feisor suggests getting out & meeting people, & something relatively new in that respect is the Drinkers Club for new researchers@ A2215450 . You'll be able to meet other recent registrants & that's certainly an opportunity to make new friends.

Take your time going over all those links & having a good look around Louise. This's a very friendly place so I don't imagine you'll have any problems settling in.
