Thanks for the welcome. I'm not exactly much of a goth so I probably wouldn't fit into your group. On the other hand I am interested in writing for the edited guide can you please fill me in on what that involves?

Of course.

All entries have to be factual. They are not like the hitchhikers guide to the glaxy at all. Because this is the Earth Edition, then they have to be real.

You can write about anything, providing someone else hasn't beaten you to it! From a report on a city or town, to the best technique for hoovering stairs!

Once you have created a guide entry and it meets the <./>writing-guidelines</.> then you submit it to <./>peerreview</.> where the community gives you feedback and offers constructive advice. Then a scout may pick it, a sub-editor will make sure it fits the style guidelines and has the correct guideML computer code and eventually it will appear on the <./>frontpage</.>

Because the standards are so high, it may sound a little tough, but it just means that the quakity of entries is very high. You could have a look through some of the entries in <./>peerreview</.> to see what sort of entries have been submitted and the kinf of feedback they get.

If it is something wacky or fiction you are interested in writing, then Fiction Central A294833 will give you some links of places to submit your work too smiley - ok

The typos are completely forgivable smiley - smiley. I do have a question though when it says write about reality how um materialistic(for lack of a better word) do they mean? My primary areas of expertise are ghosts, demons and other occult related subjects.

smiley - ghost

Well, if it was an article on Britains most supposed haunted places etc (or whatever country) then it would be ok. If it was about an account of a particular situation then you would have to make sure it is balanced ie - this was supposedly what happened however no technology has been able to record anything.

If it is about spirits in general, then again it would probably have to be balanced.

For instance you couldn't write about ghosts as a proven fact unless you wrote about situations that have led scientists to believe in the paranormal ie unexplained sound recordings etc. You could write about the belief of ghosts, or the increase of belief in ghosts, or reasons why people want to believe in an afterlife.

If you use the <./>search</.> engine to look up entries on these subjects - make sure you tick the boxes saying recommended and edited - as these will show entries that have been accepted into the edited guide. Unedited entries can be anything someone has written which could be good or could be trash smiley - winkeye

Some things may not be strictly factual, but because that many people believe it, this can be used as a way to discuss the point in itself and can be used to describe unproven theories.

Hope that makes sense!
