Hi Maw
You may have seen that I have started a H2G2 Uni project on Belief. I am particularly interested not in what people believe, but in how they believe it and the effect that believing something has on them.
It occurred to me that you would have a particular view of holding two sets of values which are usually held by people who live in entirely different parts of the forest. An entry on this would be a valuable contribution to the project.
If you would like to contribute something this is the place to do so: A853751

You see paganism and policing as exclusive? I would disagree there... well, I obviously would wouldn't I? I'll go have a look.

I did say "values which are *usually* held by ... different [people]"
No, I don't see them as being in the least bit mutually exclusive. I don't know enough about paganism to hold any kind of opinion about it. Which is one of the reasons an entry from you would be intersting.
Now if you wanted to be a Buddhist Butcher, that *would* be a dichotomy, if ever there was one!
All the best

perhaps it would.
I do know a police officer who's a Wiccan like myself, so I might go ask him some more about how they fit together, since he's actually got into the force, which is more than I can say at the moment.
So you're after something on the nature of belief... I'm not entirely sure what to write about.

Beliefs as they affect our daily lives, perhaps. I had not clocked that you are Wiccan. I do know marginally more about Wicca than Paganism, and I see absolutely no dichotomy between it and the Police force, which is perhaps a good subject for the entry.
See my posting in the other thread for more of my thoughts.

Hi MaW
This is to let you know about the new deadline of January 31st for the Uni project on Belief. I want to get this off my 'to do list' and on to the Front Page, and imposing a real live dead line seemed the simplest way to do that.
If you would like to write up your thoughts on the subject, that would be great. If the timing is lousy, then I guess the timing is lousy and we have to live with that.
Wishing you a Happy New Year.
Ben

I've got an article hanging around, but I don't think it's really entirely what is needed, so I'm going to have to do some work on it. Thanks for poking though, I'd really like to have something in a University project! Never done one before you see.

I am printing it out to read even as I type, and I have added it to the project page. I will probably put it into Writers Workshop with any comments.
MaW, I really appreaciate the work you have put in on this.
By the way - Jimster has said some really nice things about the project, F51226?thread=238444, and Z has included a more personal take, in his case on the TM movement.
Let me read and think.
Thanks.

I have read it and I like it. I put it in WW and started a thread saying so. Hmm. I thought you would have been notified about that. Odd.
Let me go and get the link.

Here is the WW link. F57153?thread=238762&latest=1.
As I said - I like the entry and it will sit well in the project.
(You don't know anyone who could write an entry on Eastern religions (or philosophys) do you?)
It does fit in the project, and it is a very good entry.
Thanks
Ben

Sorry, don't know anyone who knows that much about Eastern religions
That's a shame, because it would be a great way to round out the project.
I think I'm going to write another Entry on the differences between 'Wiccan' and 'Witch' although it'll be more like an attempt to define 'Witch', which isn't easy.
