.. and came here. Only to discover that you are from Cambridge. I thought I was the only East Anglian around. You are the first one I've met.
*Offers hand.*
Nice to meet you. I know Cambridge very well, of course - it was the favourite shopping outing from Newmarket. I went to Tech (when it used to be that) and worked there for about 18 months in all.
Are you directly from Cambridge or from one of the surrounding villages? May I mention to Mr T (if he doesn't know already) that you are at Nottingham. He is currently applying and Nottingham is one of his choices.

I know Newmarket slightly... we go shopping there occasionally, because Mum likes to go somewhere different from time to time and Nana likes it there too.
No, I'm not directly from Cambridge. I'm from Histon. Heard of it? I live right on the north edge and we can see Ely Cathedral from the back windows of the house
Do tell Mr T if he doesn't know already. As I said to Tinkerbell over ICQ, repeatedly, if he's up here looking around, if he tells me before hand I might be able to come and say hi and offer a slightly different perspective.
And no, you're not the only East Anglian because my sister's also on h2g2 and she's from Histon too (wow! Big surprise!) of course, she's not allowed in at the moment 'cos she's just an ordinary Researcher.
Perhaps we should start an East Anglian h2g2 group?

At least a "Flat East Anglia" society... Nottingham's still too hilly for me to cope with.

Maybe a name involving the Iceni or Boadicea or something earthy like that

Maybe.. there are a few hills in East Anglia. Mostly in Suffolk and the extreme south of Cambridgeshire though...

Gog magog.
Lovely words. How about that. Gog Magog society. No one else will know what it means

Oh, yes, that's a nice one...
Or something about the ghost of Wandlebury Ring?

The Children of Boadicea.
It all sounds nice and Druidy. Although the Druids were more South West weren't they ? Or were they everywhere? What's the Wandlebury ring?
We could go for dialect - Do you remember 'A' y' got a loit, boy?! (Norfolk - Suffolk is similar)

Wandlebury is in the Gogs I believe... out that way anyway.
Children of Boadicea is a good one... and she wasn't a druid, she was an Iceni Queen - and the Iceni were certainly East Anglian.

Well - I do have rather a lot of work with the GerManiaConnection. However. I will give it a try.

Nice. Forgive me for not being able to devote much time to it but I'm a bit busy right now... and I'm back on dial-up internet access so I have to negotiate use of the phone line at home.
