Well, this morning I have a rather nasty headache, which I expect weas caused by staring at a computer screen last night
And actually my stomach is a little upset as well.

Oh, damn it, I missed you by about fifteen minutes. Hope you've since taken something "extra strength" and are feeling better now.
Perhaps more quiet, plonk-ridden evenings are in order.

Well, on the bright side, at least you stuck with one form of alcohol. Could have been worse if you were drinking, say, beer as well.
I didn't do any drinking at all over the xmas holidays, other than polishing off the alcohol-filled chocolates I got.

A thoroughly sober Christmas, Nick? Not even a couple of pints of stout?
My christmas was very quiet and civilised, but I did manage a few glasses of wine on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, although I did show much self-control and didn't get drunk as such
And I'm planning a quiet new year as well. Getting old, you know

I'm not sure how my new year's eve is going to go. Last year, I spent it at my brother's place. He was throwing a party, and, aside from a number of coin-op video games, he had one of those toy/crane games, except that he'd filled it with about a hundred vials of various types of alcohol. In order for the cranes to be able to grab them, he put each vial in a slightly inflated balloon. Each vial was slightly more than a shot.
I got so drunk at that party; about the only memory I have from it is playing Samurai Showdown (strangely better at it than usual) and my brother came up to me with a glass of booze, telling me to drink it. I told him I wouldn't drink it until he told me what it was but he wouldn't tell me. Eventually, he told me and I drank it (it was Jack Daniels).
I have no idea what to expect this year.

An entry that makes MArGin look serious, AND the researcher had the chutzpa to submit it.
Still a good read mind you

I got a very friendly e-mail t'other day infomraing me that the margin article had not been accepted as it was a work of fiction! What a surprise

Whilst I am not too sure what the H2G2 University of Life thing is all about, there is a project there about Gin - maybe a section on "gins we have missed"

Perhaps MarGin could be saved for the "Gins We Would Likely Not Miss" project, or even the "Fictional Gins of Our Time" project.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. The tension was klling me.

Well, it first entails the cramping of my fingers on this little laptop keyboard. Combine that with the small screen display and tiny characters and voila! It klls me.
That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. I could probably have come up with some rediculously absurd justification for these mysterious words I sometimes use (i.e., that was a code word for my fellow secret operatives - you weren't supposed to notice that, etc), but I think this time I'll stick to plain facts.
After all, they say truth is stranger than fiction, although I'm a bit pressed as to why they say that...

Yes, I guess you can sometimes make sense Fiction can certainly be quite strange.
How's tricks? My life is particularly dull at the moment. Having finished my studies and finally having a huge amount of spare time, I seem to have found absolutely nothing interesting with which to fill it. Generally sitting around watching TV or reading - not exactly the wildly exciting social whirl that a youngster like me () should be up to (or, to be pedantic about grammar, should that be 'to which a youngster like me should be up'?)

Well, the job is taking a downward turn and my motivation is suffering greatly as a result. It's just not the same job as it was when I started. Maybe I'll leave, or perhaps I'll stay. Still too early to tell.
Usually, I fill my spare time with watching hockey on TV, playing video games, or watching movies. Or surfing the net. Lately, though, a friend of mine has asked me to do some comics for his web site, so I've been drawing these stupid and rather offensive comics for him. He won't be posting them until the week after next, though.
For someone with absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever, it's an interesting diversion.

Let us know the URL when they are up! (if you think you can handle the unwarranted criticism )
Decided to make a compilation tape for my little bruv today - good grief there is absolutley nothing to do round here And it also means I can sod around on the internet between tracks. I really ought to find something productive to do. Last weekend I got a 'teach yourself SQL in 21 days' book from the library - well 7 days later and I haven't opened it, so I suspect it will take me slightly longer than the aforementioned three weeks

One thing to remember with SQL is *never*, i mean *never* be sad enough to pronounce it sequel - this is a capital crime in my section.

Blimey, well thats the first thing I've learnt, and I guess it may just be the last
So C, is it tricky?

Hey, did I say I actually *knew* anything about it, apart from not pronuncing it?
All I no is what I have picked up from our resident expert and from looking at what MS Access does via it's query designer - everything is translated to SQL.
IMHO - these days interfaces like the MS Access one are so easy, then unless you are doing some real power stuff it not really required, however some queries you simply cannot do in design mode in Access, such as Union queries (no, not a gay Arthur Scargil) amd joining tables on parts of fields (eg table of fulll post codes to table of post district, linking on first 4 letters)
End of lesson.
Off to party, eat food, get drunk.
