Hiya. I want to put a link to your home page on my home page, but I need an image that relates to your name or personality. A name like 'Asteroid Lil' is easy (use a picture of an asteroid), but 'Frizzychick' is posing some problems for my mostly academic brain.
I'm thinking of using the weevil image because, although I might have started the whole 'weevil' thing, you perpetuated it.
What do you think?

I shall put my mind to it. Have some reservations about being represented as a weevil - not very glamorous, really, is it? (Oh, vanity).

Ya, that's why I thought I'd ask. (LOL)
Geez, it must be 3:00am there. I assume you won't exactly be setting your alarm clock this evening. Goodness, you don't suppose you're addicted to H2G2, do you?

2.53am by my reckoning - and yes, my name is FrizzyChick and I have been addicted to h2g2 for a few weeks now. I thought it was just a bit of fun in the first place, you know. I was bored and it made me feel better. But then it started to take over my life. I couldn't go to work anymore because I'd been up doing h2g2 the night before. If I couldn't get onto it, I'd feel nervous and frustrated. I admit it. Totally hooked.
(Just say no, kids)

Anyway, here I am back again at some godforesaken hour. I have found a pic I find suitably frizzychicky - see my home page for aforementioned picture. I hope it is roughly the right size. I guess if I had my act together I would have found out the required dimensions and re-sized accordingly. But hey, I didn't.
Spent a few hours at DMs parents tonight (DM is my flat mate) sorting out their new modem... lovely 56K, um... fast. And get home to my sad little misbehaving creature. Oh well, such is life.

I couldn't access the URL where your picture is stored. In fact, I can't seem to load any of the pictures on your page.
I'll try again later.
I take it that by "misbehaving creature" you are referring to your kitty cat. My brother's cat disappeared about three weeks ago. It appears that a coyote got him. Some people in his area found a coyote den that was full of cat skeletons. Poor Inkster.

Actually I was referring to my modem - which is now behaving perfectly since I removed the blighter, shook it a bit and spoke to it sternly.
The cat is v. well behaved at the mo. I don't know what's got over him.

No pictures, eh? How mysterious. Perhaps the cat has something to do with this. I shall interrogate him immediately. (Well, once he comes back from prowling around outside)

Darn cats, messin' with those domain name servers.
I'll try your page again, but I don't think it'll work. I even tried looking at your html source, and going to the actual site myself, but it just doesn't respond. Doh!

Checking my source, you cheeky monkey. The frizzychick image is http://www.frizzychick.cwc.net/chick.jpg if that helps.

Nick O`Teen Posted Oct 25, 1999
Monkey? I resemble that remark.
I don't get it. I've done a visual traceroute to www.frizzychick.cwc.net and it responds.
I ping that address and, aside from 16% packet loss, it responds.
I telnet to your IP address, and it connects (although the server boots me off, and rightly so).
That URL works fine, EXCEPT when I try going there with my browser. Then it comes back (after a while) and says that the server is down or not responding. What gives?

Yuh what? You went all technical there and lost me.
So what does that mean then? Is it broke? How about http://www.frizzy.freeserve.co.uk/chick.jpg ?

Hey, I've just noticed I look like a baby Linux penguin!

Nick O`Teen Posted Oct 26, 1999
I noticed that as well. I was going to say something, but I got distracted. I like the penguin picture. Much better than my weevil notion.

Another thought - to consider myself as resembling the Linux (is it line-ux or linn-ux pronunciation-wise) Penguin, does this make me some sort of geek? You know, I'm a glorified librarian in a museum - I shouldn't really know that Linux and penguins go together.
I guess I should blame my brother really, he is a little anti-windows and a big believer in Linux/Unix and all that malarkey. But despite that (ha ha) I still have him to thank for my interest in computers, and my basic grasp of HTML (don'tcha just love it - such a clever idea).

Nick O`Teen Posted Oct 26, 1999
I pronounce it "line-ux", and if you're aware that penguins and Linux are related, well, you're one more step ahead of the bunch. I'm not sure if it makes you some sort of geek, but it's something.
A glorified librarian in a museum? What's the glorified part? Throwing dead birds in the 'bin'? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Oooh, you um.. um.. um.. (tries to think of a word that isn't filthy).. git (sorry if offended, but deserved).
Despite the slight on my career ( ) I couldn't help but laugh (
). the glorification comes from the fact that I catalogue objects (oooh, how glorious) as well as books.
(OK so most librarians in normal libraries actually deal with objects as well as books, but not many people actually understand what a documentation assistant in a museum does, but if I explain it as a glorified librarian, then my job is roughly understood (despite the term glorified being, as you pointed out, thanks, a little inaccurate)).(woah, parentheses frenzy)
(The dead birds were an exception, our collection is generally in very good condition)
