ACE's welcome Ravenladyuk!!

I'm one of the Assistant Community Editors here, we pop in to greet/welcome the recent registrants & give them some directions for getting around the site. First of all, can I offer you a smiley - cappuccino , smiley - tea , smiley - stout , smiley - redwine , or anything?

Those are just a few of the smileys, one of h2g2's most promineent features. You'll find a complete, categorized list@ A155909 . It gives simple instructions for using each of them & you'll be able to refer back to it anytime by just typing smileys into the search window. Another decorative option you can look at is 'spicing up your page'@ A690518 , & you might also want to look at both 'the picture gallery'@ A692741 & 'the GuideML clinic'@ A187229 . I've been told that GuideML isn't terribly difficult if you've done any HTML programming.

You might be interested to know that hootoo (as h2g2's also known) has numerous Clubs & Societies...like any large community. You'll find a complete, categorized list of those@ A660340 . Also like any sizeable community, it has its own newspaper <./>thepost</.> which might well give you some interesting reading. That comes out every Thursday.

A couple of my esteemed ACE colleagues have compiled comprehensive lists of links designed to assist new researchers. Midnight Angel's Links are@ A1103815 , & Feisor's List of Links is@ A719840 . Feisor suggests getting out & meeting people, so with that in mind I'd like to extend an invitation to pop by my space/page at some point. Simply click on my underlined nickname at the top of this message...or, I suppose, to just leave me a message use the 'Reply' button below.

Anyway, take your time going over those links & having a good look around. It's good to have you onboard, so to speak Ravenladyuk...look forward too seeing you around. Bye for now *waves*

Thank you Ace's!

I think I've just cracked the navigation and I finally managed the 'About me' section. Thank you for your welcome, you guys are soo friendly! smiley - biggrin It'll take me a while to get up to speed but I'm finding it fun so far.

I'd like to ask before I make my first mistake, where do you post your own entries for local information and does it need to be submitted for acceptance? I have written about a club in my home town of Luton and plan to write about much more. The first thing I noticed which was pretty disapointing is the lack of local info as the guide was intended so rather than complaining, I'm going to enter as much as I can!

Speak to you soon and again, many thanx!!

smiley - smiley Nice to get a prompt reply Ravenladyuk! Also good to hear that you're not having any major problems. I believe you'd post entries for local information...hmm in your Journal(?) However, being somewhat of a newer ACE, not to mention the fact that I haven't actually contributed anything by myself (& the fact that I'm about the furthest you can get from local - I'm in Canada), I'd suggest you <./>askh2g2</.> . You're sure to get precise directions that way.

Oh, & you're quite welcome...no real thanks necessary really. Thats why we volunteer to do this, to be friendly & helpful...so, it's reward enough to know that things're going smoothly. smiley - winkeye
