Some new shoes (ooohhh, how girly ) and a jumper, some cds (check out the spiritualized thread on askh2g2. I think I may have slightly revised my opinion of the album after listening to it again. It might be a bit better than I make it sound. My opinion of Lupine Howl still stands, they're great (said with a tony the tigher grrrrrowl). Also got Pet Sounds (is it the ultimate sunday morning album?) The Best of The Beast - can't beat a bit of Maiden at times and Kid Rock.
Went to the cinema - A Knight's Tale. 1/10 for historical accuracy 10/10 for the action sequences.
Other than that it was a lazy weekend
Decided it was time for a change, so I took up the name given in Brit Eng 2 as a possible rhyming name for me.

mmm shoes ......
Kid Rock - are they still about? Lupine Howl - never heard of them... might check them out though. pet sounds, one of those albums you never get round to buying.
you might have to explain your name - life's too short to go looking in that massive thread!

Solsbury Posted Sep 25, 2001
I did get the shoes cheap
I'm not sure what he's doing at the moment but one of Kid Rock's backing band - Uncle Cracker is in the charts with a nice piece of mellow SW style rock ballad. I'm thinking of getting his album as well...
Lupine Howl are what a couple of the guys from Spiritualized did next when the band and the singer went their separeate ways. I like it. the album sounds more raw and rocky than the Spiritualised album - sounds like they were having fun when they recorded most of it.
The name change was from a list of rhyming slang versions of peoples names on the BE2 thread Kaeori came up with.
They're all based on place names so Phil became Solsbury Hill which got contracted to Solsbury

i'm far too lazy to change my name - i quite like it, makes a statement (probably that i swear too much!)
it's bloody mad here today, first day of matriculation. i've not been involved in it, but i'm having to field all these questions about it.... bugger
mad, mad, mad,
don't know much about kid rock, i've been told they're some sort of crappier limp biskit stylee band? i'm not a big fan of that sort of thing... just don't understand what the kids are listening to

It's working too near the people who know the answers. You should have absorbed the knowledge by osmosis
One description of Kid Rock and his band (the twisted brown trucker band) I've come across is Run DMC meeting Lynard Skinard.

i'm having a really crappy day .... i really hate students, bloody tax dodgers demanding little buggers, if one more student looks down on me, i'm going rip their hearts out (apart from the cute ones, obviously) sorry, they're pouty little b******s who go into a huff if they don't get their own way, even if its their fault in the first place.
i think i must ticked the 'i am psychic' box on my application form
interesting description .... now kid rock , he's a white man in a hat?

Solsbury Posted Sep 25, 2001
Pah, students, mumble mumble....
He is indeed a white guy with a hat (sort of bowler hat kind of thing). If you saw the MTV awards the other day he introduced Mick Jagger.

I think i've had a religous experience. have you got the souljacker yet? i can't recommend you get this album highly enough. absolutely blew me away last night, so much so i'm going to give up my highly saught after groove armada tickets and go to see the eels instead. there's a remix of mr e's beautiful blues, if they play that version at the gig, its going to be pretty special. i can't go on enough about how fantastic this album is - you need to get it!!!!!!
so....anyway .... how's it going with you? i'm so busy just now with matriculation, one week down, only another two to go

Solsbury Posted Sep 28, 2001
I'll get that then. Is it a special edition with the remix? Must look up when and where they're playing...
I'm just trying to stay focussed on work today as I'm off up to the Alton Towers thing this evening

Solsbury Posted Sep 28, 2001
Cool any other groovy things on the SE version of the album then?
Pegasus has arranged a bit of a get together . A weekend camping and trip to Alton Towers. Should be a good fun time. It's been years since I've been there.
busy, me. I'm doing my best to avoid too much work
And the Winner is .....
weegie Posted Sep 28, 2001
i wish i could avoid doing work - i try very hard to.
you're weekend sounds fun, i think i'm going to chill this weekend (what's new eh?) might go to pictures to see either AI or moulin rouge - any suggestions?
SE - you get a bonus disc, its got three new and very good track and that new extremely funky (great sax work) mr e's... the album is hard and rocky and funky (not a work i usually associate with the eels) and as usual very beautiful - there's a gorgeous love song called feeling fresh, it samples stuff off their last album (not for the first time according to the highly informative sleeve notes) - OMG if somone wrote that for me....
And the Winner is .....
Solsbury Posted Sep 28, 2001
I've heard that Moulin Rouge is very good from a friend.
I'll have to try and make sure I get the SE version of Souljacker then.

Solsbury Posted Sep 28, 2001
I certainly will have a fun weekend. Hope you will too.
I hope I'm not on the rides (big or small) either!
Perhaps not having too many or tonight...
