Goodness, how lucky I am. I shall contain the excitement somehow. What a life...

And what a day to come

I did about 10 minutes of weeding, then had a rest, then did another five minutes - at which point I came across an unfamiliar and frankly huge spider which is living in a perfectly round tunnel in the garden bed under the front windows. It might be a health hazard, I'll have to get an expert opinion.

It's certainly a sartorial hazard. In my attempt to make a dignified non-hasty retreat from the spider's domain, I managed to tear my favourite gardening trousers in a most unlucky manner. It's a good thing I have a walled garden.

How soon before your expert can give you an opinion?

Maybe some of those old work pants can be used in the garden?

The trousers are old office trousers, which I thought still had structural integrity despite looking a bit shabby and shapeless. Apparently I was wrong.

My expert (arachnids, not trousers) should be able to advise me quite soon. In the meantime I won't do any weeding in that particular garden bed.

I think 'blah' sums it up. Tired and inert.

I really must read all this stuff I brought home with me on Friday, but somehow I can't bring myself to start. It's a variant of Writer's Block, I suppose.
