About the only difference this year is the fact I haven't needed the heating on full bore. Its been remarkably mild. Not much sign of a cold spell on the near horizon either.

Lil, I had a lovely time too with the family. Very laid back except for a manic granddaughter. Oh, and the power went off in the street just as the turkey was about to go in the oven

We just swopped tea for lunch and lunch for tea and had a great time. I dare say a few people were cross when all the lights and cookers went off but no good having a hissy fit over things you cannot change.

Last Christmas taught us all what really matters.

Thanks Lil, the last time I had port , I kept on spilling it. I saw on a farm cooking programme where they had several birds cooked inside one big turkey.

Boxing Day and yesterday, spent eating mostly different types cheese which is my favourite food along with crackers.

I had carrots, parsnips, brussel sprouts and roast potatoes along with roast turkey, then for dessert Christmas pudding and mince pies.

I'm sorry, I just completely fail to see the allure of turducken. Someone was stoned out of his gourd when he thought, "Hey, you know what would be good right now? Some chicken... no wait... some duck... NO, turkey... Wait... A duck in a turkey... No, no, no... I got it now... you take the chicken, see... and you stick it... get this... inside the duck... wait... there's more... then you stick that duck with the chicken in it... inside the TURKEY, man. Dude, that would be awesome!"

The birdies were rolled and tied - NO.. Not strung up!

It was a layer of turkey, then a layer of goose, with chicken and duck. Oh.. and it had apricot stuffing, too

I just had to take care not to carve the string - as if I would!
