The phone rang tonight

Me:- Hello said I

Voice:- I am from (insert your bank name here) Bank we are refunding insurance preimuns as stipulated in the recent legislation, and YOU COULD BE DUE BETWEEN £1,400 AND 1,700. We will be sending you a letter soon to confirm this refund.

Me:- yes (thinking this will come in handy) I will wait for the letter and read it through

Voice:- But first can I ask you you confirm your details

Me:- Mmmm odd not the normal routine

Voice:- Youe date of birth is (the one he gave me was wrong)

Me:- So I said so and gave him a correction

Voice:- (slightly flustered) Oh thank you can you confirm your card number.

Me:- No I will ring you back lets have your details.

Voice:- Why

Me:- Because I havent them to had I will ring you back.

At that point the phone went dead as the caller hung up

This is a scam if you have caller ID the scammer is ringing from

001 323 888 121 DONT GET CAUGHT

I reported this to my bank and I urge you to do the same It is a fraud of the worst kind...

Please be careful everyone....

Hi Scorp! If it's the city centre Premier Inn, it's the brand new one. You're a 2 minute walk from The Deep, 5 minutes from the museums, and about the same from the other hotel. Me and The Missus can share a taxi with you at the end of the evening if you want.

Thanks Moonhogg. However! Since the loss of my purse on Thursday and all credit cards etc., I have managed to cancel original hotel and get into the Holiday Inn after all

Naturally, I cancelled all cards and then rang the hotel to cancel - specifying that they couldn't use the details I provided 'cos they no longer existed - so no problem.
